Well my car made it.
I drove it from Denver Colorado all the way down and back, 900 miles each way and 12 and half hours.
The car had absolutley no problems aside from some light knock that came and went with the elevation change (6200ft down to 1243ft)
So we get down in to Phoenix around 7:30 pm on Friday.
I decide to do a couple pulls on the highway to check my A/F. I get tons of knock. A/F is low 10s. This is the exact same tune I have in Denver with no knock. O wait, I know why 91 octane at 1200 feet above sea level
So I put in the race gas in the hotel parking lot, and change over to my race tune. We take it back out on the highway. I do a 1st through 3rd pull and the coupler on the charge side of the intercooler pops off. So I fix that and head back to the hotel, because its late and I want a beer now.
Saturday, get to the track, get teched and then wait. Finaly first open session come at 1:55, over an hour behind schedule already. I run a 12.593 @ 112.07 with a 1.764 60' Slower then in Denver but 1 mph faster.
First round Qualifying at 3:25pm.
I get the best launch ever. 1.558 60' on All seasons. I'm .3 faster at 330' then pssshhhhh. Blew off the coupler again.
Then everybody started puking car parts on the track and we had to wait for ever for them to clean it up, and fix issues with the timing lights. The track got cold and my 60' got worse.
Second round I ran [email protected] with a 1.828 60' qualifying 4th.
Third round I ran a [email protected] with a 1.951 60' qualifying 3rd in Power Street.
Sunday...... it rained. I guess it dried up enough around 4pm for the few people who stuck it out to do a little racing, but by that time I was 300 miles away on my way home.
So the car could run a 12.0 or a 11 with a good launch, and easily if I fixed 2nd gear. O well. Had fun anyways.
Cliff notes:
Car was not much faster at 1200' compared to 6000'.
Ran my best 60' of 1.558 on all season tires.
Qualified 3rd in PowerStreet
Thanks for reading!
