No Power, knock sensor maybie????

my car all of a sudden started runnig like crap.I logged it and came up like this. It seems my power is as same at like 20% as WOT. Is it because i might have a bad knock sensor?

Yes that could very well be either a bad case of phantom knock or a bad knock sensor. Your lifters or something else could be setting it off too. To check if it is a bad knock sensor, find your knock sensor (it's on the back of your block on the second cylinder right below the intake manifold) it will have a few wires coming out of it, hard to reach but once you find those wires you will know you found it. Then feel the back of the sensor and if it is gooey or sticky then it is bad, the heat will melt it and it make it bad. Time for a new one, they cost about $70.

I had the same problem and my knock sensor had vibrated loose. So yes it could be your knock sensor. Make sure you have no boost leaks. Make sure you buy an OEM knock sensor

can you reach it by hand with the intake manifold on?

Yea you should be able to. It took me a while to find it just ### there is a lot of crap in the way (ie fuel lines, spark plug wires, intake manifold bracket, intake manifold, etc), and I even have a/c and some vacuum lines removed. Like I said it might take a few minutes to find it but you will know it when you have found it, its really the only thing down there with wires coming out of the back, and i bet you will feel that sticky stuff on the back of it too.

Yea its pretty easy to reach by hand, getting a tool to tighten it is not that easy. You can do it from the top, its just not going to be fun

Just for reference if you need to tighten it some more or replace it you will need a 15/16" stubby wrench.

thanks. Ya i had some gelly stuff like silicone coming outa the back. how should i get it out though? can you go from the bottom?

I did mine from the top it was a pain

Yea you will need to remove that intake manifold bracket (three bolts) and then use the stubby wrench to get it out of there.

what should the timming be a WOT?
