NGK Iridium BPR6EIX

Hey guys, I run a 95 gsx stock. Just got my NGK Iridium BPR6EIX the other day(probably a week ago), however just yesterday, I suddenly remembered that I didn't check the gappings on them(yes they went in the moment I got them). So I pulled them out and found out that they are around 0.04+- on each of them. They're supposed to be 0.028-0.030 right? But my car is running better(smoother, etc.) than before(stock NGK plugs). So do I have to regap them? Thanks

Yes that is what's recommended, but i usually go between .020 and .025, try to gap them to specs if it runs like crap bring the gap down to where is begins to smooth out. what they reccomend doesnt always mean whats best.

.028 is where they should be. I gapped mine before they went in, since they were all off.

Well my previous copper ones have to be 0.028-0.030 in order for my car to run smooth, but these are iridiums. Still have to? A friend of mine who uses a jdm said that I don't have to. And he's one who I would say, familiar with 4g63 jdms. So how abt usdms? Any difference?

Honestly I think most people will tell you to stick with the copper ones. I dont know of any lifer-dsm guy that has moved off of copper ones.

I know you are stock but for the tuners its much easier to read a copper plug and they are dirt cheap so replacing them every 10k doesn't break the bank.

That being said if your car runs good now....dont change a thing.

Agreed, unless you car is missing or blowing out the spark under boost leave them alone. You have to be real carefull gapping the Iridium plugs with their fine wire electrodes.

My car's running great. Gapped at 0.041. Stock 95 gsx. Weird.

Btw I change my plugs every 3k or 3 months. Got these iridiums dirt cheap. Heh.

If the gap is too big, it can fail to spark as the cylinder pressure goes up from boost.
If the iridium plugs work for you they should last 10x as long. You should be able to get 30k from them. I get 30-60k from them in NA cars.
