so would you say BPR7ES would be more benificial to my car, why wouldnt the better Iridium IX's be reccomended?
They're "better" if you're selling spark plugs. Or, if you have some GM etc piece of crap that requires engine removal for plug replacement. They last longer than traditional plugs. Otherwise, they aren't effectively "better".

Keep that marketing hook away from your mouth. The 8 horses in Splitfires isn't power, it's something else to do with a horse..... which the horse had sense enough to throw away.

this may make up your mind,....My buddy bought those iridium plugs and saw no difference. He has only put 20k mi on them so no telling if they will last longer but there is definetly no need for them. I say just stick with the 7es's

i put iridiums in mine...i think i noticed a difference in the way the car runs...i think it runs a little cleaner....of course my old spark plugs had a lot of carbon build up..many miles on them...but i think i noticed more of a difference between old beat up spark plugs..to new spark plugs...i think a spark plugs a spark plug..shoudlnt matter much...

if your gonna go with iridium plugs get the denso's. they have the thinnest electrode. its a bit of a pain in the ass to gap them cause you gotta be careful not to break the electrode. my car runs and idles smooth as silk with them. ok, ok, maybe its the redline oil change every 2k mi or the sl1 upper cylinder lube in every tank, but the iridium plugs definitely do not hurt. just dont be a splitfire or bosh+4 victim

I had thought of switching to Iridiums before because the NGK Platinums always burned on me and gave me rough idle (plus that annoying CEL). Iridiums do last longer than platinums but I had been told that they are not good for forced induction purposes esp if you are running over 15psi.

They do, however, offer longevity in N/A cars thats why they are used in C5s and Vipers which have spark plugs at the most difficult, PITA, obscure places to install them. So they are good up to 80K miles without changing. Our plugs are so damn easy to change, I had been changing mine every oli change when I was running platinums. When I changed to the copper BPR7ES, they last longer and never gave me problems.

Spark plugs are one of those things that car people waste their money at. You have 2 tips, 4 tips, platinums, iridiums, etc. that are just "gimmicks" to sell them. The tag lines "Increased Horsepower" or "Better Spark" does not mean anything.

most people dont even bother with Iridium plugs because they dont mix well with most DSM, all you need is BPR7ES since all you have is 300 crank HP. :dsm:

You are confusing Iridium plugs with platinum plugs. Iridium plugs work quite well with DSM's. You won't get more power from them. I removed relatively new BPR6ES plugs from my car and put the Iridiums in and my idle was noticeably smoother and slightly more responsive. A bunch of guys up here with DSM's & SR20DET 240's all use them with no problems. They work well when you install larger injectors for smoothing out the rough idle and last longer, but that's mostly it.

BTW: You can't gap Iridium plugs!!!! The biggest problem is that people try to gap them and damage the electrode causing poor performance. Then they say "Iridiums don't work on DSM's".

ya..the only real benefit to iridum plugs is that they are less susceptible to fouling under lots of fuel and boost. i personally wouldnt go with any thing less that 7es plugs. but for a high horsepower, hight boost application, i still wouldnt get iridum's , id just get bpr8es's.

you can gap iridiums...they do work on dsms....i did notice a difference with mine....and mine are made by ngk

I've run both styles of plugs. I like the standards better than the iridiums. I was having funny spark issues w/ iridium plugs.
