okay ive heard alot of talk about ngks plugs being the best for our dsm's. Back when i was nissan(240sx) i heard that iridium plugs are the best hands down . now the question which is better ngk for its reputation for dsm's or iridium which the price ($12 each plug) alone makes u think there the best? thanx

I agree, the search button is a wonderful tool as there are many (and did I say a lot?) of threads about spark plugs. Hell there's even a tech article about them. But just use NGK coppers because I say so (dad flashback).

And just because something is more expensive doesn't mean it's better.

Iridium plugs have their places in the automotive industry. However, DSM's aren't one of them. Iridium comes from asteroids. The price of ONE NGK iridium plug for a 95 Eclipse, for example, is about $7 and that's IF the auto parts store carries them in stock. In most cases, you'll have to special order them. The average price for a standard NGK plug is about $1.50, give or take. For the price of one iridium plug, you could have a set of four standard plugs that have worked perfectly for the DSM community since it's inception.

If you've got money to burn and want the prestige of being able to say you run iridium plugs in your car, that's fine. You most likely won't see any performance gain from using them over standard copper plugs, and if iridium plugs run anything like platinum plugs, you may even see a decrease in performance.

Soon as I read the title to this my mind flashed to Eric's(Mr Boxx) tech article but I see you are all too quick on this:D. Nice article by the way Eric. Very informative and it hits all the stuff you will need to know on plugs.

Thank you. I actually found one of our depot/warehouse stores in Milwaukee who actually carries the NGK Iridium plugs (our store doesn't), so I may head over there someday this week or next and get a picture of one, just to update the article.
