when i turbo'ed my car i knew that my gas mileage would drop, but not to 13 mpg! that are some of you other 420a-t guys getting mileage wise?

so i need some help deciding on what my next step should be to cure this, and also move on for a safer a/f ratio. i just replaced my first o2 (the after cat is eliminated) and i am getting a wideband in the near future as well.

i was thinking to get a safc for when im in vacuume and try to lean out all of that gas my walbro 255hp is putting out and my engine isnt using. while that is taking care of the vacuume, also swap out my fmu for a s-fmu and go off of my wideband to try and get a/f ratio that is acceptable. would i need a fpr for this setup?

also, i have been looking into MSnS for a while and i really want to do that. however, i am not electriclly inclined to do so, but i have an "acquaintance" who can wire it in for me and my auto teaher said he could help me tune it. as for me, i think i could grasp the concept more and more if i were to have these two helping me through it. should i not go this route untill i am completely ready or do i take the opportunity to have it wired in for me and "go for the gold"?

TIA

13 is just plain horrible, on stock injectors I was still getting 28-30mpg, 25ish on 30# injectors not tuned. It sounds more like you have a leak. You are on stock injectors right? You're profile didn't mention larger injectors. But if you have larger injectors, then that's most likely your problem running 12:1 on an fmu with stock fp's

yeah im on stock injectors. my gas mileage has been crappy as long as i can remember. i was getting 17-18 before turbo (which isnt great, but better than a powerstroke!)

what kind of leak are you refering to? i haven't noticed any gas anywhere. the only leak that i know of is a little oil leak i have. how would a rebuild help my poor gas mileage? i need to figure something out... thanks guys

if you shine a flash light by the injectors, check to see if there is any color distortion around them, maybe wipe around them with a rag, go for a drive and look again. But leaky injectors can be your culprit. I went from having 250miles to the tank (at 12gal/tank about 21mpg) to getting 170 ish per tank (14mpg). I checked all the injectors and sure enough a leaky number 1. I'm runningn 550cc untuned on a finakey emange mind you.

Also check the fuel filter.

^^^^^ I agree with Rand, for the longest time I had the same problem. Even though they were not stock injectors. My MPG dropped from 26 to like 15. When I went to 550's I sold my old ones to my brother and he found the problem. I checked everything but the injectors. Sometimes its easy to overlook things like this

well i got one suspect out of the way. we were doing "hoist practices" in my auto class and i decided to change my fuel filter while it was up. everythinglooked fine before the replacement went in too. i also checked my lines going to and from my FMU...everythings good there. i have yet to check my injectors though. i'll let you guys know how that goes.

also, this morning i tried to start my car and it wont idle at all. it felt like it was way rich and very "boggy". i come to find out that my power source for my fcd (spliced into my power windshield wiper power) the fuse is broken. how have ou guys wired in your fcd's? thanks.
