newbie needs help!!!!

my cars idle will bounce between 1500 and 2000 while im rolling to a stop not in gear for a few seconds until i come to a complete stop and then it will finally settle down to 1000...whats my problem?????

First off read up on idle surge causes, check the sources of them, make sure it's not a simple fix.
