New to Turbos

Hi. Im new to turbos(my last talon was an 93 es). I was wondering what exactly connects the turbo to the intake, I dont seem to have the duct in my 90 awd... and I was also wondering if can I use a nonturbo TB in my turbo talon?

"what connects the turbo to the intake?" the charge pipes connect from the compressor outlet to the intercooler then theres another charge pipe connecting the intercooler to the Throttle body. not sure if this is what your asking?
 
the stock intercooler location is right in front of the passenger side front wheel. piping goes from the turbo to intercooler, pipe from intercooler up through hole just above intercooler into engine bay and routed to TB. you will need segments of pipes and connect pipes together with silicone couplers and T-bolt clamps. i've gone so far, back in the day, as to having a muffler shop bend some 2.5" piping to upgrade the stock equipment. or if you have the money, get online and buy pre-mandrel bent pipes. as far as the N/T TB. don't know if there is an internal size difference but it'll all boil down to vaccum lines. that is unless you take out all the emission crap. then it's a matter of will it bolt up to the intake plenum.
 
A non-turbo throttle body can be put on your car. And the turbo outlet has a turbo outlet elbow bolted to it with two bolt. The lower intercooler pipe(licp) connects to the turbo outlet elbow. The other end of the licp connects to the stock sidemount intercooler(smic) which is in front of the right front tire in the front bumper. Then the upper intercooler pipe(uicp) connects to the smic outlet and goes up through a hole in the engine bay. There is a metal pipe(the one with the bov on it) that coonect to that part of the uicp. Then another rubber part of the uicp connect to the other end of the metal portion and goes to the throttle bod elbow which is bolted to the throttle body. And the throttle body is connected to the intak manifold. Any more questions?

these guys specialize in IC piping and make stock upgrade pipes or pipes for FMIC setups.
they've also got some pics to better help you.. make sure you look at the "sidemount IC and IC pipes" on the site. they should have everything you need... or at least give you some idea of what you need.
 
So the intercooler actually cools the air before it enters the throttle body? And has to be routed from the the turbo to the cooler to the blowoff valve to the throttle body?
 
The intake connects to the inlet of the turbo...The compressed air is pushed through the outlet of the turbo...The air continues through to the intercooler and from there, flows into the throttle body. The bypass valve serves as a relief for any excess air that gets forced back when the throttle is let off...That air is either recycled back into the intake tract before the turbo or vented to the atomosphere.
 
Great diagram.... also like said just ready the information on here there are some full explanations that are great. When i was looking into getting my turbo DSM i was unfamiliar as well. But i spent hours upon hours reading. The last thing you want to do is get involved in a turbo car and not understand at the least the general working of it. Read everything you can theres so much information no one article or write up will come close to covering everything you need to know(depending on how in depth you want to go)

As much as i read and asked questions i still learn something new every time i read the forums all i read just gave me a basic understanding of the workings. But if something comes loose or i think there may be a problem i can at least give a good analysis of it and help the mechanics or people on here help me by providing a great deal of information
