Ok here is the weird bit, i have put a new slave and master cylinder on the dsm about 2 months ago. I put an ACT 2600 clutch on about 1 year ago. The car also has the extension rod and has been adjusted.
everything was fine until i pulled up to a stop light and pushed in the clutch and felt a small pop then i still had some clutch pedal but not much and the clutch does not really disengage.
to get the car moving i had to shut the car off and put it in gear and then start the car in gear. so since then i have put another new slave cylinder and it feels like i have full clutch pedal but the clutch still won't disengage. so my guess would be a piviot ball or clutch fork.
does anyone have any great ideas of what else it would be before i drop the tranny.

Check for play in the pedal assy. Likely it's shot and needs welded. You'll have to search for pedal assembly welding, and you'll come up with a ton of threads about it. There are also 2 tech articles about this.

Side note, the extended pushrod on the slave cylinder does nothing for you. I'd suggest you get rid of it.

well i checked for play and can not really see any. i have about 3/4 to 1" of lenght on the clutch rod, at the tranny. when i do wiggle the clutch rod i can not see the pivt. ball movinging around at all.

Did it seem like the pop you felt came from the pedal assembly or the clutch itself? If it seemed like it came from the clutch, I'd bet a spring popped out of the clutch disk and wedged itslelf between the disk/PP or disk/FW.

Pull it apart and let us know what happened (if you are able to rule out the pedal assembly).

:talon:

If it popped when the clutch was in and then felt loose, my bet is on the bellhousing bolt near the slave. When I put in my 2600 that bolt wasnt orginal and was too short. Worked fine for a bit then I pressed in the clutch and the threads pulled out of the block. Another possibility is that the ear on the block broke off.

A spring popping out of the disc would probably happen when you let the clutch out. It doesn't seem likely that it would pop out when theres no load on the disc.

EDIT>> The pedal assembly is another good bet. Duck under the dash and see how far you can move the pedal before the clutch master cylinder pushrod moves. It should move right away.
