Ok, I have a 97 gsx light mods, just bolt ons. I bought it like 2 months ago and it threw the water pump/alt. belt twice. I came to find out that the harmonic balancer/ crank pully was wobbling bad. I got a new one from smiths auto slapped it on put all new belts(gator belts). Well it hasnt thrown any belts yet but it does still wobble, I was so scared that this was crank walk but the shaft has no play at all any help woul be a plus. Oh and I know there are other threads for this but all the ones I have seen mostly say buy a new one. mine is new so I dont know:confused:

Good reason why it wobbles is that you possibly didn't bolt it down square to the surface of the belt sprocket.

Or, you tighten the first bolt down real tight and it torqued the pulley out of round.

You tighten the pulley bolts like you're tightening the lug nuts on a wheel: start out finger tight then gradually tighten every other bolt going around in the bolt pattern, (if you had 5 bolts, then you do the star point tightening sequence..) then finally tighten the bolts to torque specs.

Good luck-DSM

my mechanic did the job. he is well experianced and I would think that he would have done that. could it be anything else?hope not:pray:
