Well just like the title says when my car is idling the underdrive pully squeaks and I looked at it and it looks like it has got a slight wobble once you rev the motor a tiny bit it goes away my concerne is more of what would cause it to do this in the first place :beatentodeath:

Make sure you have the right belts, sounds like a loose belt to me and if you didn't get new belts with your new pulleys the stock belts would be too big.

I would suggest getting a new belt, it happened to my friends Accord a few weeks ago, when he started it up the belt would scream really loud, we replaced the belt and made it a little tighter of a fit and it doesn't make a sound now.

i had something similar happen when i was installing a underdrive pulley on my mazda. i think when i was installing it i hit it in a lil to hard with a rubber mallet. the pulley was aluminium and it got bent. so when you installed it did you hit it a hammmer of some sort? if you leave it like that the belts can keep falling off.

If you're sure it's not the belts then, I would take the pulley off and check it out to see if you can visually see why it's squeaking such as a bent part rubbing. When you put it back on, if it seems fine, oil it up and see if that helps at all. Whatever it is it shouldn't be too difficult to fix the squeaking.

You should take the pulley off and check it for bends or warps. If for some reason the pulley is off balance as far as weight distribution, along with the belt pressure, it could cause the pulley to actually get looser. Does it seem to balance out when you rev, or does it get worse?

Okay, I just read your opening post again and answered my own question. It is either loose or badly unbalanced. When you installed it, did it fit good and tight, or was it sorta loose?

this is the stock underdrive pully I didn't change anything it just started about a month ago it balances out once you give it just a little bit of gas I thought about just turning the idle up but I would rether fix the problem than just tempararoly fix it what would cause on to get out of balance

for a pulley to be out of balance, basically its one of two things: either the flaw is in the manufacturing process, or it is installed incorrectly. Every now and again, the manufacturer of parts kick out a defective part where either the weight balance is incorrect, the pilot hole is drilled or molded at an angle instead of straight through like it should be. If, when you installed it, you might have forced it on a little bit at an angle and either "wallered" the shaft hole, bend the shaft, or lost the little key that a lot of pulleys use to stabilize the pulley on the shaft. Just cover all those bases, by checking for defects in the part first, and then double check your installation. Also, check and see a seal from the base of the shaft might have gotten loose, damaged, or just disappeared. I had this problem on a 98 Sunfire that I put a turbocharged Ecotec into. A Brand new engine, and a seal was gone from the base of the power steering pump. took me three hours to realize what was wrong because I wasn't at the point where I could start the engine. Good luck with it!!

You might need a new pulley. I had this happen to me when I first got my car. We thought it was crankwalk but we pulled the pulley off and it was loose. It turns out that the stock underdrive pulley is actually 2 parts. Theres a center (where you bolt it to the crank) and the outer part (where the belts ride on). It does not look like a two part piece but it is just really poorly made. Take the drivers front wheel off and your a/c belt and then take the pulley off. If it crumbles into your hand then i think you need a new pulley. :sneaky:

They are not supposed to, but excessive abuse can cause anything to wear out faster. My whole fuel system is in the process of taking a dump because of this same reason. I have reworked all parts of my fuel system except for new injectors and AFPR. Everything else is brand spanking new.

I haven't hade a chance to I have a 420A it is a little trouble sum to get to maybe this weekend I'll get a chance I spent all day today tracing wires from were the guy before me that had the car ran alsorts of s#$t I find wires that went to nothing all under the dash but thats a hole other topic

Don't worry, I'm having the same problems. It's funny how people get a car thats all built up, even when they understand that the car in question is a bucket full of someone ele's problems, yet when we get elbows deep in the work it's usually always worse than what you imagined. That's where the fun really begins. Just stay confident in your work and take help when you can get it. You'll work through.
