when you turn the crank pulley to btdc should the cam marks line up? I did a timing belt change and lined all marks up. now I put the crank pulley on and line it up to btdc and the cam marks dont line up at all, am i doing something wrong>?

Crank it around a few times (by hand) and see if it ever lines up... you may not be on the right stroke. If it doesn't line up eventually, you need to re-time everything.

i took it all off to find out that i cant be on the wrong stroke because of the timing plate on the crank sprocket one full rotation brings me rite back to were i started

Thats right the cams turn once every 2 turns of the crank. This means they are in the same spots for the marks just that the dowel pins rotate from top to bottom. If all the marks don't line up it is a timing problem. Hope you didn't bend valves and you just need to redo the timing belt.

Always use a straight edge to make sure the cam marks are in a perfect line when timing the cams.

how could i have bent valves. i turned the crank with a rachet a few times when the timing was wrong, it came out to be about 5-6 teeth off, could I have bent them
