I wonder if it even makes sense to reproduce those or if the EPA is even gonna allow a chunky closed deck, cast iron block to be even produced anymore. It takes a lot of time for it to warm up, causing longer CO and NOX emissions.
Maybe classic car laws allow that, not sure...

Manufacturing cast iron blocks, drilling, milling is extremely difficult and expensive, I'm sure they had some good core laying around that they reused, I don't believe those are new castings.

They are making new casting 7 bolt 63s and 64s. They mention Evo4-8 specifically. Not sure how different a later Evo 7 bolt is from a late 2G 7 bolt.

That's pretty cool. I know Chinese used 4g63 in some of their Chinese made cars up to about 2015.

I do wonder tho, if the structural integrity is gonna be identical, as a good example, I remember Jeep switched their cylinder head manufacturing to a different plant somewhere in Brazil or something. The heads were exactly identical in weight and looks, but the new (TUPY) head was never cracking around mid cylinders while the old (0331) heads we always having issue. There literally was no changes that any techs would be able to see, the newer heads just looked like the casting was a better finish.

Also a good example was : Volvos heavy duty trucks had issues with the crankshaft cracking and breaking just because supposedly they were using lower quality Indian metal ore for manufacturing. They stopped that later and got a different supplier from what I remember. But the long blocks were still same part numbers.

Long story short, not all remakes are gonna be the same, quality of material and the plant that manufacturers them matters a lot.

Hopefully this newer manufactured blocks are just as good as the OG ones. Hell, they might even be better, tech has jumped in the past 30 years
