I have this evo 9 sitting in my driveway with a hole in the block. what im trying to figure out is if the 7 bolt eclipse block is the same as whats in it now. im only talking about the actual block not internals. im just conserned with oil, water passages and the trans bolt pattern. I dont have anything apart yet and the internet is leading me in all sorts of directions. The owner wants to bore and stroke it out to a 2.3 if a block can be had cheaply. right now Ive sourced different motor configuration in about the 3-4k price range but id like to do a little better then that because thats just a short block. rod went threw the block at 70k.

thanks for the info guys.. i ended up finding a decent evo 9 motor for 400 bucks from the junkyard. it has 26k on it but i got it so cheap because it cant be tested. the cam sproket and valve cover is broke from the accident. its got an FP red turbo, 272s and 1200cc precision injectors on it though. im willing to take the chance because all i really "need" is the bottom end but the parts that are on the outside of the motor i can sell for more then i bought it for. im picking it up tomorrow morning so hoping for the best. tryin to turn a negitive into a positive for the owner. his turbo is beat anyway and ill know in about an hour how much damage he did to the head when i pull it. right now the rockers arent even touching 3 of the lobes.

Sell me the Evo 9 ill fix that hole. :)

wish it was mine. its even the MR edition..
