So I lost all the oil to my engine and I think I seized my T-25. I can't turn the wheel at all. I'm getting ready to pull the turbo off and start looking for a replacement. So here is the issue:

1. I need to replace the turbo.
2. I don't have any mods yet to my engine other than 6 bolt with arp studs.
3. I'm low on funds unless I can get a payment plan.

So with these criteria, I've got 2 choices; I can go small and upgrade twice, or go moderate and drive with a turbo that is going to be at near stock compression since I don't have any fuel mods or tuning equipment for probably 2 years.

I'm leaning towards buying a 14b, new UIC,1G-BOV, mbc, boost gauge. I think that would be the cheapest/most reliable set up to run on for the next couple of years. I think I would prefer to save up for ecu/dsmlink, fuel mods, exhaust, and cams to be ready for a good turbo.

I'd like the opinions of people on this board and please be serious. My budget is 1.5k at most and I truly feel like anything I buy should either be a 1 time purchase or something that I will be able to sell later on for at least 2/3rds the value.

I would get a 14b and do what you say. You don't really need an uicp. I am in the same boat but was very lucky and found a used s16g for very cheap.

I agree that a 14b will serve you well. Very reliable, easy to resell and is a very good turbo. I was actually quite impressed with it for its size when I ran one to break in my new motor. You should be able to get those parts for about $300 used.

So with a 14b, will I just need a new J-Pipe, oil line, 16g install kit? I'm still going off the side mount intercooler but I can probably fab up some hard pipes pretty easily with silicon couplers.

If you lost enough oil to seize the turbo you should be checking the bottom end for damage.
