+1 to vice grips.

If that doesn't work the last resort method is to hit the area the stud is screwed into with a blow torch quickly, then try to use the vice grips. If you try this do it fast and if it doesn't work the first couple of times it probably wont work. The idea is that the metal in the stud and the metal in the turbo would heat up differently, so the turbo (area around the stud) would expand and the stud would move easier.

This is an absolute last resort. It worked when I had a bolt stuck in my 700r4 tranny when I was trying to remove it from my 350.

thread 2 nuts onto it, then put a wrench on each, "tighten" the upper one, and "loosen" the lower one. obviously you need to apply more force to the lower wrench, but not enough to over power the upper wrench.

I retract my last post. This is a much safer idea :D

I feel your pain. My GSX motor is in pieces in my friends basement and the flywheel in my Mazda (my daily driver) is chipped and in the shop LOL.

Thread a nut onto the stud. Drill a hole through the nut and stud. Push a strong, appropriately sized (at least the length of the nut and just smaller than the diameter of the hole) pin into the hole, locking the nut in position on the stud. Use an open-ended wrench on the nut to remove the stud.

hey thats not a bad idea im gonna go try that here in a little while ill let u guys know what happens

they make a stud remover tool that can be put on an impact.....its a very very useful tool....good luck man

...So to get this straight, you took the manifold off the car. And you have the turbo weight, sitting on your oil dump and your downpipe basically?

I have done this many times, the turbo weight is sitting on, oil return, oil supply, coolant supply, coolant return and exhast down pipe if it still has the down pipe brace bolted to the block.

You can try the vice grip method, but also tap the the stud with a hammer at the same time, this will loosen the locking power of the rust.
