Alright guys, so call me an idiot but HAHN has the fastest 420A right? They use the Super 20G right? they ran 11.7 with that turbo right? So who has a 420A running 11.7's on here right now? ANYONE? NOt that i'm dissing but you guys go off dissing that turbo it sucks yada yada but if they got it to work why couldn't I? And all I wanted to know was what good cams I could put on my engine. Thanks for you that helped. And I ain't saying ya'll don't know what you're talking about but it has been done so I can't see how ya'll can diss it.

Bill ran that time with a 20G, yes, but he also uses a 150 shot of nitrous too. Keep that in mind. He had some trouble getting the bottle temps right and having the ideal bottle pressures at the shootout, so his times were considerably lower than his record-setting pass. There was another 2GNTer there (see "etx" on 2GNT), running a built bottom end with a 20G and he bogged it on one launch and ran a super shitty time (like 15 seconds - he didn't get into boost until halfway down the track). Next run, he overcompensated and snapped a CV axle clean off at the line. Like I said, all about the ball bearings.

There is a strong argument for getting a turbo grind on your cams. Like Justin(?) said above, the overlap of the 16s or Crower 2s will need to be dealt with, but the real benefit of the 14s is the way they aide spool up. I don't know where a 20g begins to spool up and where full boost occurs, but I've been told that the GT30 I'm getting will begin to spool about 2100rpm and be full on by 4 grand, holding all the way to my 8300rpm redline. That's almost too little lag for my liking. Either way, I doubt a 20g will spool like that on a 2L.

I was talking about cams with a couple guys today and this is what was said about the Crane 14s.


"These ####ing cams are no good for a snail that blows some real air. I had quite a bit of back up pressure that just couldn't get out the exhaust. It was almost as if I had exhaust manifold plugged up. (name removed) called (shop name removed) and talked them for a little bit on the cam specs of the crane #14 turbo grind. Those cams will NOT work with a turbo even close to a PTE SC-61.

If you have a Star turbo kit 40 or 47 trim they will work fine. If you have a S16G or maybe even a S20, it should do fine.

Above 5K rpm these cams flow like crap when running a REAL turbo! The exhaust just cannot get out and the back up pressure in the intake is outrageous.

We are checking on some Crower Stage 3 cams right now."

Both of these guys are running serious turbo set ups. Just thought you might like to know up front what some people are saying. I'm very happy with my Crower 2s right now.
 
Bill uses nitrous now but he didnt on the 11.7 run, The official opinion seems to be you can't get the 20g to spool up quick enough..right so should I go with the super 25G does that spool up better or can i get a 16g to get me into the low 12's??? cause I haven't seen that done before but I have with the 20g so I'm just trying to figure it out. another question HAHN is using the 20g still on their eclipse rs running 10.9 or whatever w/nitrous or are they using the 25g??? Plus they upgraded the manifold didnt they? anyways I guess thats off topic but the cams...Crower stage 3 will be good..or I could go with crane 16 or 18's right. I guess I should explain this isn't a daily driver weekend drag car perhaps just get it out on the weekends to beat the local mustang guys . NOt a daily want a fast car to commute to work in. Plus who says I can't put a nitrous on it too ;)
