What would be the best cams to go with and where can I find them for my Talon 420A. Planning on a wicked 20g turbo kit from HRC big injectors fmic the whole nine yards. The only place I've really found them is Howell automotive and I don't really want to go through them (they really messed up when I ordered my underdrive pulley) :cool: :talon:
 
The Parts Catalong is a good place to start. You could also pick up a set of turbo cams from a 1g turbo car.

However your car will be very unreliable if you put a 20g on there, even if you do rebuild the engine/head/tranny etc. Youd be better off just doing a smaller turbo. Even people with smaller turbos have issues with reliability.

Where did you come up with the theory that a built engine with a 20g will have a problem or any large turbo for that matter?

i dont think its the reliablitliy witht he built motor and turbo that im confused about, but that a 20g will be undrivable? you cant build a sky scraper without putting down a huge foundation first :thumb:
 
The question was what cams would be good to go with. Strong durable. The super 20g from hahn racecraft I'm not worried about. My engines going to be built like a rock and trust me the cash isn't a worry. I'm going for the most powerful 420A on here but I'm looking for a good place to find good cams.
 
no, a 20g turbo will not cause drivability issues. a 20g is a wimp. i used a t3/t4 50trim on my eclipse when i was turbo, which is roughly the same size as a 25g..it spooled plenty fast and made plenty of power. i was able to run a [email protected] on 6.5psi with that turbo.

as to answer your question about cams, get the ones that will match your desires. you're not gonna want to get crane #10 cams and expect to make a ton of power. for ease of tunability the crane #14 or turbo grind cams are a good choice, they use a .354" intake cam lift and a near stock exhaust cam lift to reduce reverberation. now if you want something wild and will make power, opt for crane 16 or 18's or crower stage 2 or 3 cams..
 
420a w/ 20G and 25G has already been done. You want to be the big dog, you're gonna have to do better than that. ;) It's all about the ball bearings these days.
Regarding cams (so as to avoid getting another toonerz thread all jacked), I'd suggest going with Crower. They don't have a turbo grind *yet* but I'm sure they might if enough turbo 420a owners contacted them asking about such a product. Personally, I'm running 10.5:1 CR, Crower 2s and have already sourced my Garrett GT30. This is not to say I plan on being the bad ass either. I happen to know at least one other person who's already got a GT35/40R sitting in his room waiting for install. I guess this goes to say that you don't have to find a "turbo" grind, as much as you have to properly tune your engine once its built.

To help you with your cam shopping, I highly suggest you contact Mike or Chris at Exile Racing Technologies in the Chicago area. I have nothing against Howell, as he is a long standing supporter of our community, however it's your engine and you owe it to yourself to do as much research and get as much information as you can before committing to anything of this magnitude.

haha, I know its been done before. I wouldn't be able to buy it off a company if it hadn't been done before. But everyone claims they have this and that but I'm not seeing any time slips for anything. I posted before and the fastest talon on here is in the 13's and I think the eclipse might be in the high 12's or something like that I'll have to go back and look it up. Of course don't flame me I'm talking about 420a's here. So my goal is the low 12's and maybe high 11's and I should be able to do that with the super 20g. Thanks for the insight of those who stuck with the cams question though

good luck tuning them to not reverberate....they have a shitton of overlap, you'd be better of if you were to get the turbo grind cams from crower....you'll have to actually call them tho, they aren't listed anywhere on the interent.
 
A HRC 25g is the same as a T3/T04R .70 56mm trim compressor, .63 A/R stg 5 turbine now if the t3/t04r was ball bearing it would be part of the Garrett GT series GT35R or GT35/40
Not a regular t3/t04b or t3/t04e 46,50,56,60 trim
A 25g is a big turbo capable of supporting 700hp
flowing over 900cfm or over 70lbs/min

I got the Crane 0014 cams. The 0014 are 246*/238*. The turbo will spool faster, thus you won't have as much lag. If you turbo with the 0016 (250*/250*) you will have to get a ignition and a S-AFC to retard timingand pull fuel at idle.

well guys heres the update on the tubo "suposedly" ups got eveything competly messed up, i talked to him today he says that he should have the package back within the next few days and he is going to put some extra assories for the car in there and he will send it out again. he says that he is really sorry :thumb: :rolleyes: well see what happens
