here the kicker REBUILT TITLE hes not sure what was crashed he bought it like that and owned for 5 years

says reason for selling he needs a bigger car for new kid

I probably would past. That's how I am. I dont like to rush on something that will consume more. Others might disagree. Im sure he threw what ever was good onto that other eclipse!

Got any under the hood shots? Lots to tell from that, i LOVE the color. But chances are, its been more beat than he says. I dont really like that the paint is coming off the rear bumper.

Tell him to get the front bumper painted, get the rear bumper fixed. Then do it. Thats a decent looking car, and if he can prove 44k on a rebuild, and it checks out ok, id say jump on it. Do a compression test on the spot.

hmm i doubt he will fix the bumpers..and ill ask for under hood shot tomorrow ..i bet the guy is just trying to part ways with it .. wish i had the cash im sure i could get it cheaper

car has a title. thats a big 'ol red flag to me. you have no idea what other damage may be hiding in that car.

Just try to get the pics of the engine. If everything looks okay and no problems then go for it. If not you can be patient and something better might pop out somewhere else. Don't rush into getting a car. You'll regret it but its all up to you.

I would stay away from a DSM that is randomly moded, it is better to start with a car that is stock or you know well or is problem free.
is the electrical hacked? is the engine bay free from clutter? is the interior clean?

Pop the hood, take interior shots, and ask for receipts! If you physically go look at the car do a compression check, pull the dip stick and check the oil, pop the coolant cap and look for spots of oil in the coolant, check the CV boots on the axles... I say the above because you can piece together a history of the car and what its been through. For example, if you see that half of the coolant system has been replaced (hoses, radiator, fans, etc) you can tell they were having a overheating issue which could mean a potentially blown headgasket as soon as you turn up the boost a bit. When you pull the plugs to do the compression check look at the condition of the spark plug itself, you can see if they were running the engine lean if the tips are white or white with black spots (detonating).

How does it run, I personally dont like the idea of buying a modified car. If it runs great and pulls strong with no problems, look for rust. My 95 was rusted through the frame. Worst investment ever. The car looked clean but underneath it was shot! If the strut towers even have a little rust I would pass, I'v been down that road and ended up selling the car. Have you checked out club 3g, my buddy is looking to do a motor swap on his 3g and in the future going turbo. Its a pretty common thing right now. That would be a good route to go to if you like your car.

I'd pass, you could probably get a better trade for your car and $500.
