Hello I'v been doing some searching, and I think I have found the setup I want to go with, this is my first dsm build, and this is what I have come up with ROFL any suggestions/experience will be appreciated!
-NPR stock pistons
- stock rods
-stock crank
-ARP everything
-ported/polished head
-ported/polished intake
-BC valve springs
-3G lifters
-272/272 delta cams
-tubular manifold
-walbro 255
-aeromotive FPR
-660 injectors
-GM maft
-s-afc2
-16g turbo
-3" full exhaust
-FMIC

This is not an expenisve build, so thats why I am going to run the Safc. What do you guys think?

Looks good, except that I would really go with ECMlink instead. With v3 you could ditch the MAF-T and just run the GM MAF straight to the ECU with a cable. It's worth it, my close to stock car even has it.

Here is my opinion on your setup.
-NPR stock pistons -decent ebay junk pistons
- stock rods - are fine to use
-stock crank - is fine to use
-ARP everything - is great to use
-ported/polished head - is ok to do
-ported/polished intake - is ok to use
-BC valve springs - garbage get kiggly or gsc springs
-3G lifters - good to get
-272/272 delta cams - get gsc cams they are power proven regrinds are waste of money small gains you will be exspecting.
-tubular manifold stock 2g one is good and evo 3 and fp race manifold are good.
-walbro 255 - great to get
-aeromotive FPR - great to get
-660 injectors - 650cc is more then enough maxing out safc I would get ecmlink.
-GM maft - is ok stock maf is good or speed density
-s-afc2 - is ok better luck with with ecmlink you will run into timing issues you can't adjust.
-16g turbo - will be perfect with 650 or 550cc best get ecmlink in the long run but I am running 550cc with 16g so up to you .
-3" full exhaust - good to get.
-FMIC - great to get.

So you will probably see 15psi with the 16g on pump gas with eather 550cc injectors or 650cc with the safc exspect like 280whp with this setup. Good luck.

Well, if you sold the SAFC and then bought link you'd be saving the money you would have to spend on the MAF translator plus the money from the SAFC, so it would be practically the same money anyway.

It depends on whether you want to buy it brand new or not. If you're on a limited budget I would look around in the classifieds section on this site for a used ECMlink v3 or on a local forum if you have one. All you need to do is have your ECU socketed, insert the chip and reinstall ECU, and then fire up the software on your laptop and connect to ECU. You can read more about the whole thing on ECMlink's website if you want.

That depends on the ECU and version of Link. Link V3 lite can be had for pretty cheap in the classifieds. Brand new it's $425 from DSMLink.com. Either way, you'll need the ECU socketed for the new chip. If your ECU is non-EPROM it will need to be converted. Everything can be found on their website.

This is not an expenisve build, so thats why I am going to run the Safc. What do you guys think?

This is what I would do:

I would remove from the list the following: Port and polish of the head and intake, SAFC, GM MAFT, and tubular manifold.

-The port and polish is not needed for the budget build. Stock head on a 1g have made over 400 hp. Save you money
-SAFC and GM MAFT are okay for tuning, I would eliminate both and going with something else, ECMlink
-Tubular Manifold, again save your money and buy a used evo3 or 2g manifold. Less prone to cracking and keeps engine bay temps down
-I would also rewire the fuel pump.

All the money you saved from ditching the port and polish, SAFC, GMAFT, tubular manifold, you might be able to get ECMlink. You should have enough to get ECMlink lite at least and convert you ECU to eprom if needed. I really would save up for it.

If you need a tuning alternative that is still cheap I would look into Jackal/Ostrich combo.

goodluck

So Clipto, did you read at the bottom of the OPs post how its not an expensive build LOL? Why would you suggest 500 dollar cams, 3-4 hundred dollar springs? Even used these parts still run a high price.

My input is leave the motor besides the arp bolts. Get Dsmlink as stated above im waiting on My new radiator and fans to come in before i throw on my 16g good luck ! Why pull cams to do lifters if everythings gravy and if you get link dont for get a boost gauge and a/r ratio

I'm not planning on running the ITM belt, I think you were the one who warned me about them on my one photo, I got a gate belt now. My friend talked me out of the S-afc so I am going to sell it and get ecmlink lite, and my friend is selling me the cams, and lifter for 150 so I couldnt say no. All that I am concerd about is getting my hands on a used evo 3 16g. What power goals do you guys think I can get with a 16g?

Tough to say. There is a ton to go into that equation. There is how much the compressor/turbine combo can flow.. and then there is how much you can actually get out of it. Then its a matter whether you can use the airflow you managed to move to its full potential.

You will need dsm link E85 huge injectors and a good fuel set up to pull all the power out of the 16g.

Your power goals all depends on the fuel your using and your fuel system.

Also take a good clutch kit and a big brake conversion ...

I'm curious about your EVO tranny/TC setup, i dont know if the ratio match the 1G rear diff ?

The rear diff. also has evo 3 gears...took some machining to get them to fit though.

As for my fuel system I'm running wally 255, aeromotive frp, stock fuel rail, 660cc injectors. I dont know how much boost I can run with that fuel system.

Umm regrinds are more than proven. They are exact copies of the high dollar cams that do make big power. Do some research before you type or you'll be in the red like me:thumb:

I do I have tested on the dyno hks regrinds kelford regrinds delta vs gsc cams and sure go ahead and pay $200 for them might as well save $200 and keep stock you will see big improvement with s2 cams from gsc why waste money on cheap cams you have to put shims on. Also the springs and retainers are made solid not cheap, so yes I am sure you will be fine but in the long run you will look back at money wasted. Do it once do it right. But agian it was just my opionion. I have wasted ton's of money on these cars and not satisfied with resaults, so I am only saving you the dispare. But if you want a down to earth opinion just follow your build and have a good tune you will be fine for your budget build, just don't except more then what it is.

Should have gotten the MTXL.

I'm almost tempted to toss my Delta cams. Not only did you need shims, but the measurements required to degree them in do not match. I lost an amount of max lift on the regrinds.

Cheap yes but don't expect to be able to dial them in properly.
