seems to be needing a rebuild. I know pte should charge aournd 185-200 for a rebuild, but i dont feel like sending it to them, and waiting two weeks for it to be rebuilt. What are my options because i do not have that much time.

well the only 14b i have might be blown, and i dont have a wastegate acuator for it, so unless you can let me have yours for a few weeks its not helping. Does anyone sell rebuild kits?

Just do it right the first time before we see a thread saying why did my rebuild go wrong.

Id rather pay the money and have the work with a warranty than doing it in a rush.

....and another PTE junker bites the dust. Wow, it sure seems as though they're having some serious reliability issues lately among DSMers.


You can't rely on a standard T3 rebuild kit to have exactly what you'll need for parts. You're probably going to need a kit with a 360* bolt-down thrust plate to rebuild it properly. I haven't found full rebuild kits with 360* thrust plates for Garretts cheaper than $130, so if PTE's willing to rebuild it for $180 I'd say wait and let them do it.

If you do decide to tackle it yourself, use this guide I made featuring (ironically) another PTE junker:

im probably going to send it off for the 185 dollar rebuild fee. I was just going to see if i could do it myself for a tenth of the cost and half the time.
