Hey Mike, another thing. I like to use that VHT ceramic high temp paint. you ever use it?

Its awesome I used the black on my downpipe and heatshield it's amazing how at 1200+ degrees it doesnt fade or anything.

Cheap stuff too. 5-6 Bucks a can at advanced auto. I just used scotchbrite to Prep the surface then sprayed about 5 coats on them giving them about 5-7 minutes dry time between coats, then cook your part in the oven or grill at 300-350 for about 3 hours.

Anyway enough rambling from me ;). Just an idea.

Yeah Mike... you might want to coat that downpipe before it starts rusting where you ground it down. VHT is good stuff. I used their caliper paint on my calipers -- it's very durable. I think VHT has a much better product than Duplicolor. I've seen too many Duplicolor paint jobs start chipping and fading.

I don't plan on really doing to much with this downpipe because within a year or so I want to get a different turbo possibly and make a new downpipe all the way to the cat and then make a 3 in. test pipe in it's place. I just have a 2.25 test pipe in right now (2.25, eh oh well, better than the cat). Do you think it will be fine until then or will the rust get kind of bad?

No, it won't get that bad. I'm just speaking from experience... I ground down the welds near where it connects to the cat (you can't really see it in my pictures), and it began rusting there. The rest of the downpipe stayed in relatively good shape. I don't really care about my downpipe either, though. When I make the new one, it's getting ceramic coated and the rest of the exhaust is getting painted.

Yeah, I noticed where I grinded around that it was changing colors when I first got it going, but I think it's back to normal again now. I plan on using some exhaust heat wrap on the next setup.

It would probably be fine for the time bieng, but just think, you could put a nice flat black VHT coating on it to avoid it from rusting and so it looks all uniformed in color. Then when you get your new DP you can help out some fellow 2gnter with a similar set-up by selling your old DP. It's a win win situation for you both. ;)

Haha I'll have to remember that.

UPDATE ON THE TSUDO EXHAUST
I tried to fix it so it wouldn't hit anymore and vibrate and broke the welds on the muffler for the hanger (cheap welds). I got it rewelded today though for $5.
