As the title says my goal for this car is to run 10's with the 50 trim while keeping the stock bottom end. I am going to try and do it on just boost. But I have a bottle waiting to go on the car and will put it on if need be to reach my goal. Once I reach that goal or the bottom end goes(whichever comes first) I am going to build the block and will add pictures from that to this thread also. I will be updating this thread as I do things to the car. Expect this thread to last a few months at least.

My ultimate goal for the car after I build the bottom end is to run low 10's on boost with a different turbo. Then I will add the bottle with a 75 shot and try to break 9's.

All comments or questions are welcomed.

Nothing special to look at.

And the reason I am looking for a shell to swap everything into.

Good Luck with the project!!!

I think you will be able to hit your 10 second goal pretty easy.

I hit mid 11's with less gear then you have and I was only at 18 psi with a sleeper 16g running a 75shot with a stock smic and stock cams at stock weight.

I was running conservative timing on pump fuel. I know I could have ran low 11's with more boost and a better tire. Maybe even a high 10:cool:

11.5 @ 119 is some wicked driving! Anyone ever notice how the 50 trim, although the late craze, has never really been tested to the max? The FPGreen has been around forever and is reputed to be a solid 11 second turbo, but how many people do you see testing these bad boys out to over 30 psi? I think with a good driver, 128+mph traps, you'll be a candidate to knock on 10's door.

I think its going to be a very hard task.....I also think that you will need the help of that 75 shot, and I think with some REALLY REALLY good tuning it is VERY possible....keep us updated, and let us kno whats going on

^ You might be able to get to see it first hand if I finish it while I am still in NC. I will be going to coastal plains raceway park in Jacksonville if I do finish it while here.

but how many people do you see testing these bad boys out to over 30 psi?

Not many, and with good reason:

FYI, boost doesn't matter. :thumb:

It's realistic max is around 450whp. I don't see him making anywhere near (let alone over) 500whp on boost only, but for mid 400's in a light enough car with enough traction, I don't think a 10.99999 at super low MPH is out of the question either.

I'm not a believer!! OMG:coy: I guess I will be finding out myself how inefficient this thing is myself when I try running some VP this summer.

It's not inefficient at all. It's actually quite impressive. I just has it limits, like all turbos do. It's very efficient at 30psi... if you aren't making any power. Hence why boost is a meaningless figure.

I dont think this is unrealistic at all assume the bottom end doesnt see knock and the rod bolts hold their place...

people have gone mid 120's on a 50 trim and PUMP gas.... let alone some race gas...

Good Luck with your goals!!!!

I look forward to seeing what you can do...

I think it's do able. When's the last time you saw someone bend a rod from too much power?

Here you go. Broke and bent rod from to much HP. Car was tuned for zero knock. This came out of my motor in my galant vr4 95/90 set up with a 3052
Car is full weight and traps 128.

Theres a good chance youre gonna take out the block when your internals go.

I'm not worried about it.

Im not here to argue about whos right or whos wrong, but the way i see it anything is possible .People have proven many things over and over again . And still proving new things to this day.I think as long as the motor holds up and a good tune.I dont see why you cant do it.I would like to see myself what the 50 trim can do.
whether its easy or not im confident you can do it .Good luck !

It is possible, but

-Weight: everything... gone, need the car as light as you can get it with out spending money (carbon, fiberglass) Just need a seat, belt, steering wheel, gauge cluster, probly a roll cage unless you like getting kicked from the track.
-Slicks will help!
-Water mist, optional to keep the temps down.
-Tune for low timing dont wanna run advanced to much, and knock the mist kit and race gas will help.

I actually want to see this done. It be nice if it ran a 9.99 on this set up.

I am confident I will be able to do it. But it won't be easy.

-Car is already pretty well gutted and has some light wheels waiting to go on it now.
-Drag radials will be on it
-No need for it. I will be running vp c-16 or q-16 fuel

If I do 10's easy enough I will attempt to run 9's on it. I am sure that will include a good amount of nitrous.

Well, I picked the car up from NY and towed it to where I am in NC. When i picked it up I remembered that the head was off of it. I deecided to look and see if there was any rust on the cylinder walls and of course after a winter in Syracuse with no head on it it has rust on the walls. It looks like I should be able to clean it up. If not, then the goal will turn into 10's on a built bottom end with the 50 trim. I would rather do that than do a stock rebuild now and build it later obviously because of the cost difference.

I got back to NC at 8:00 this morning and I started taking some more weight off the car. I got some wiring out that I don't need any more due to me eliminating things(speakers, washer pumps etc.). I also took off the rear bumper support and am trying to decide whether I need to cut holes in the bumper cover or make something to support it so nothing happens when it catches the air. I will have some pics up tonight or tomorrow of the car after I get some more things off it. If anybody wants they can add pics of what they did to the rear bumper cover after removing the bumper.

I hope I can fix the rust on the cylinder walls because I don't have the extra money right now to build the engine. So if I can't clean the cylinder walls the project will not run for some time. Plus I think it would be cool to run 10's on a stock bottom end.

The car will be legal for road use besides the lack of a catalytic converter and lack of emissions equipment. Once I buy a fiberglass hatch I am going to buy the flex-a-lite molded windows for the car. They are already pre-molded for a 1g and are light weight.

Awesome man.GoodLuck .You can do it .Make it happen.Like you said its not going to be easy but you can make it happen.Where do you get that fg hatch at? Not that cheap either im guessing

:dsm:I think you can do it bro, if ppl can make an evo 16g break 10's or 9's then anything is possible. I got a goal for myself to make my auto 1g eclipse gsx break into the low 11's on a evo 16g. Lemme know how it go:thumb:

Thanks.

This is where I am going to get the hatch and hood from. Mitsubishi I am going to get pin on models since they are less money. The hood weighs 10 pounds and the hatch weighs 8 pounds without glass obviously. They are not that much money to me, especially compared to cf models.

These are just a couple of pictures from today when I was taking some weight out of the car.

This mess was under the carpet when I pulled it up. Now I know what those wires going to my fuse box were.

The rust that I need to try and get off the cylinders. It all appears to be surface rust. Any tips would be great.
