Other talk about this can be found here in these threads..
This will be to document the work with pics and talk about my experiences and help others as well
Today i did the brakes. a bi*** getting the T rotors off but after that ordeal all went well (mostly anyway)
Here's a shot of the left GST rotor with the X caliper already bolted up and in place.. My Gst had banjo bolt caipers which in all my readings i was seeing NOT to get banjo style gsx ones cause they wouldn't bolt up.
Being that i have the entire donor car i just pulled the banjo lines from the X to use (got some GSt calipers for sale with lines if anyone wants em)
i literally used the torch first, then resorted to plasma cutting around the inner "hat" part of the rotors to take tension off them to allow the 3lb slege hammer to finish knocking them off the hub
here'sa couple shots of the brakes installed with gs-t wheels. thought it would be a tighter fit but guess not
This is only the begining that i wanted to do right away as i HATED my T brakes, they sucked for anything over 40mph stops
As i left the house to test the brakes they felt good in reverse, then as i went to leave the houseboom, skerch, grind!! uh-oh, got out and the right side front lower ball joint popped apart (first time for that for me)
Got it fixed in the street with a neighbor holding a light and hand tools (i was lucky to have ONE left control arm, (left and right must be the same
)
My FWD right CV exploede apart at the trans cup so now instead of buying one to run only to replace it with AWD soon i'm gonna get AWD ones and work on getting the trans in this week along with tearing the tank and rear out of the donor car tomorrow and if i have time i'll work on putting the new bolts and such in the GS-T body
i know it's not much but i'll do my best to document my build (athough many have done it before me i get bored easily
)`
