1999 GS-T Transmission

hey guys i am about to buy a 99 GS-t with 70k miles and a 5 speed. i have read a lot about transmissions on this forum but never came across seeing a problem with a 99 5 speed. coul anyone tell me if it does have any tranny problems with grinding or anything else, and other general problems with that year? thanks a lot. BTW i am buying the car for $7999 pretty good deal in my opinion.

I am not an expert on transmissons, so i don't know if the 99 tranny is any better than the earlier models. But I'm willing to bet that the only reason that we haven't seen many problems is because 99's still have low mileage on them. Once the transmissions start getting higher mileage, that's when problems start occurring from normal wear and tear. If you notice, 95's have alot of posted problems, that's becuase they are the oldest of the 2G's and they have the highest mileage. Give it time and I'm guessing that the 99's will have the same problems.

Just my .02, by the way. That does seem like a pretty good deal. 99's still cost a pretty penny and that's not bad.

I agree with punishercb. My tranny went out at 88K. You should be fine for a couple of years. Just realize parts do wear out eventually. But for that price, you should hop on the deal!!
