2G transmission fluid change 98 eclipse gs-t turbo

I have never done this before but does anyone know what the bolt that say "oil" is on the transmission? is that the fill plug and where is the drain plug? I looked on vfaq but my transmission bolts are not in the same place as they are pictured on the website. i am trying to change the fluid in the transmission and put redline mt90 in it. it is a manual 5 speed transmission. pics would help a lot

Well the drain plug will be the one on the bottom where it will drain from, and the fill will be on the side where you will need to fill it. It's easy to see.

I believe the fill plug is a 17mm and the drain is like 21, 22 or 24mm 6 point box end wrench or socket. If it hasn't been taken off for a while or ever it could be really tight, may need a breaker bar of some sort! Other than that I would fill It with this stuff! OEM Mitsubishi Trans Fluid – Jacks Transmissions LLC, but redline is great fluid as well and will be just fine!

Make sure that you use a 6 point socket on the drain and fill plugs, a 12 point can round the head off. The fill plugs can be very tight sometimes.

thanks everyone! from the looks of it the bolts have never been taking off. Would a impact wrench be safe to use to take the bolts off? I would use a torque wrench to put them back on.

I just used a simple six point wrench to do the drain plug. Doesn't take much torque to ensure that a drain plug is tighten enough .. around 30ft lbs.

Redline MT-90 is what I filled my tranny with.

An impact would be overkill for these bolts. I would not recommend it but hey, it's your transmission.

Do not use impact gun..I use synchromesh on my gsx and it shifts like butter
