Im guessing you are wondering why this build isnt finished? Well lets ask slowboyracing.com. Since they built my motor and head for me. I got some wonderful pics of what was found by Nate at TPGtuning when the head was taken off to change the cams. Pics will be out today. Just to let everyone know I been using SBR since i started with DSMS and if you know my builds I have 2 dsms that almost everything was upgraded and changed so imagine how much money I have put into Slowboyracing.com.

I called Slowboyracing.com and was on hold for Mike for over 30mins and they contacted them on Facebook and they decided to tell me email him. O really, kiss my ass on that one, Im a great customer and now it games being played since someone ####ed up, I didnt built the long block!

In the PISTON picture I circled the valve reliefs, the left side is
right up against the wall, the right side is alot furthur away. Looks
like the fly cutter that cut the valve reliefs was never centered.

This head looks to have been surfaced alot as there is
not much left!

The pistons are not turned in the bore, but the
valve reliefs are cut inncorrectly. You can clearly see there is a
difference in the relief from the left to right, and this is why only
one valve hit the piston.

the stud was installed through the head breaking the back
portion and going into the oil drain back

pitting in the bottom of the combustion chamber

you can see a large dent in the head were it looks like a
valve hade previously hit?

^ how many miles are on the motor

No more than 50miles

There are 2 sides to every story. As with this, invoices indicate that for this head springs and retainers were purchased to install on the head you had, there are no invoices showing you bought a built head for this engine or had us perform any porting or machining. I remember invoicing you for the springs but where it was so long ago I don't remember why we went with this route rather than a built head. We did no machine work on this head. We have also asked for the number on the head (all blocks and heads we build on have an SBR number on them and clearances, parts used and work done is documented) and we have yet to get a response with the number.

I am not trying to start a big back and forth about this, just stating what is going on from our end.

Looking at this, only one thing could make this happen, and thats a bent rod. If those left the shop that way, the car wouldnt have made the near 500hp it did and lasted even the 50 miles that it did.

On top of the fact that our engine builder wouldnt let that go out the door that way if it was a mfg defect, that cant really even physically happen because of how the rods/pistons are machined. Only thing that makes any sense is somehow some rods got tweaked. Can we get some pics of the rods?

I beam rods twisted at 500whp? or maybe the crank wasnt balanced correctly?

Im not the only one who has problems with slowboyracing, I had them build another long block for my GSX, im worried to install it.

Im Sure NATE for TPGTuning sent the SBR number of both the engine and head to you. I even have invoices they tells me you used Manely pistons and than Weiso pistons, also I don't know how I also have stock valves which are all different? Looks like some miscommunitcation before you were working with me Oliver!

I will look into the numbers he sent tomorrow afternoon.

I talked to Tim - he said the head you have shown pictures of above you provided us and only bought a S&R kit and asked us to assemble it ONLY with the parts you provided us. We never machined the head in the pictures above, it is easy to see that.... but I have learned this lesson before not to try and assemble a head for someone that does not meet our specifications, I am sure we tried to sell you the machine work... that's how we get paid!

As for the pistons, I sent the picture to Manley as well, I expect to hear from them tomorrow. I did see that more than one piston looked tweaked by a valve - can you confirm this? Remember, not one piston manufacture in the US has a warranty, not one connecting rod, not one bearing, nothing. Yes - that may come as a surprise to a lot of people but there are simply to many variables (IE things that can go wrong when you make over 100 HP a hole). Not that I will not try to help with Manley (as I stated to you a week ago via email) but I cannot promise they would help.

Reminder - you only posted this after you told me you had no money to fix it and asked me to build you a free motor.

Now this shows up online, not really a surprise - this is exactly how people act when they do not get there way.... I cannot build free motors for everyone who has a non build related issue or tweaks a built motor. This is why we keep very good documentation on all of our builds.

I will pull the sheets from the build and try to send you the corresponding invoices so you have them. I will also update this thread tomorrow when I hear from Manley Performance.

I would not worry about your other block, but I would worry about a motor that had that much build up on the pistons after only 50 "so called" miles.

So whats the deal? You paid for services you didn't get? IE headwork/cc work? Or... I don't really get it. ....
That head looks like it has a ton more then 50 miles though man, theres a huge amount of buildup there. SBR seems to have a good rep man, I think there might be some confusion perhaps.

good rep might be pushing it....

there are deff two sides too every story and there not adding up right now. but im sure DWR-DSM will clear all this up. i know he has his shit on point and wouldn't just throw stuff out for no reason.

I have money, look at how much money went into SBR, the #### would I wanna pay SBR for another block/head at full price for something that seems far from my fault?. I don't want a free motor I want shit to be fair and right. When I was talking to Jeff who worked at SBR I told him what I wanted and for some reason it seems like this didnt happen. You wanna defend yourself on the forums answer the phone instead of keeping me on hold for more than 30minutes and nobody answering me. You don't wanna reply to any of my emails or anything. You also keep saying good documentation, than find out who messed up.

Customers don't expect you to be perfect. They do expect you to fix things when they go wrong.

DWR-DSM, speak to this here, if you would:

We never machined the head in the pictures above, it is easy to see that.... but I have learned this lesson before not to try and assemble a head for someone that does not meet our specifications, I am sure we tried to sell you the machine work... that's how we get paid!

What is the status of the head? Was it your head? Did you pay for machining? Clear this up for everyone.

It seems that SBR is saying that the head was built from a combo of used and new parts you supplied (no request for machining, you supplied the stuff??)

This just makes another horrible experience about sbr that I have read. I am sorry to hear about what happend. Hopefully everything will some how get figured out and get this beast back on the road!

If SBr bolted that head to that block I don't care if there were 100000 miles old parts used there still on the hook. You don't assemble stuff that you don't think is up to par period. That head has more than 50 miles on it or it had one hell of a running rich problem, either way SBR should have either demanded a cleaning and machine work or just not assembled the head and block. I'm not a fan of SBR but I won't bring up irrelevant issues here.

On the flip side man if you put that head on after that block and head were sent to you separately and never had it cleaned checked or resurfaced you gave them a get outta jail free card. What kinda springs do you have I could see high revving on the dyno with weak springs and some good cams not helping with valve tap. In a nut shell I think Manley is the real culprit with those valve reliefs.

When I sent the head to SBR I wanted everything to be cleaned up and changed, I also paid for some machine work, Jeff charged me for it. I told Jeff, I want whom ever works on the head to go over it and if anything was wrong don't use it or fix it. Jeff told me everything was fine when it was looked at but he said it was gonna be resurfaced again and some other machine work.

There shouldnt be any used parts what so ever on that head in the first place.

All the heads TIM did and he remembers exactly what he did with mines ROFL and I remember what happened on Oct 8 2008 10:40 Baghdad Iraq. Think the sun was out that day smh!

I told Jeff, I want whom ever works on the head to go over it and if anything was wrong don't use it or fix it.

After seeing this build and your old one, how you haven't skimped on any parts or work, and you haven't cut any corners, I believe this statement to be 100% true.

I'm inclined to agree. Shouldn't SBR require a waiver of warranty or disclaimer if they are willing to build an engine in a manner they don't recommend? Seems like invoices should all tell the story here. The OP has spent a lot of money. I'll be watching this all to see how it gets handled. Can't wait to see this build get back on track.
