My dad bought it from a guy for 2500 because it had a little rod knock, Funny thing is when were taking it apart we find out it already has high volume oil pump, trick flow heads, and a holley throttle body, heads alone are worth 2000. any way we are putting it back together with:
383 stroker kit
ARP bolts & studs
Heads ported and polished
Mahle 10:1 pistons
Eagle rods
many other things cant really think of now but untill then ENJOY LOL

Thats a clean Z! Lt1s are nice motors and should make some power with the 10:1 and trickflow heads. Is it 6speed or auto?

Yeah my dad is all about muscle, he also has a 69 camaro BADA** LOL... building anything really is so fun seeing it come together knowing you built it is the best feeling. when i try to talk to him about dsm's he ignores me(###### ### he thinks its like all the other rice on ritchie hwy) hahaha. none the less he likes anything tht goes fast

^^6 speed my friend:D:D:D:D

Looks good, this might belong in the hangout though. I gotta say it's nice to see some other projects here, its refreshing to look at something other than a 4G63 every once in a while (I know, blasphemy).

hopefully just a fun car to cruise around during summer. and me and all my buddies are gonna have a track day this summer sometime and we can all cruise down to MIR. Originally my dad wanted to go on PINKS but i dont even know of that show is still doing episodes

Cool that you and your dad are into modding together.

Sounds like you got a deal even though i'm no Chevy guy i have love for all sorts (owned many Mustangs in the past)

What kinda power do you expect out of it when it's done?

the LT1/T56 combo is really cool. super clean car, and now you've got a really good engine to match. when you get a dsm, what are you looking for exactly?

A fellow f-body member, sweet!!! Move to Kentucky and my I'll try and get you a job at the shop :D

How have the trick flows been to work with? Also, what kit did you buy? You aren't keeping the very limited LT1 intake manifold and throttle body are you? I have known a few guys that came in for a tune that...well let's just say, they had no common sense when it came to restrictions and the way airflow was measured in our cars...

Keep up the good work, I would love to see more pictures, and I'll throw in some of my build if your interested.

Anything done to rear end on that thing? 12 bolt? ford 9 inch? I owned a camaro rear ends are weak especially with a T-56 doin the gear banging.

I feel ya, I have seen a many young fellers' come through the shop asking for the "super tune"

anyways at our sponsored track night we had a 98 LS1 put some fresh slicks on a fairly stock suspension, well I'm sure you can guess what happened next.

Yea, I'm kind of an F-body freak. I'm really surprised at how many F-body and Mustang guys there are in a DSM forum. I've gotta say I'm really liking it. I joined these forums because I want to know if a DSM is a car I want. I'm replacing my Cavalier soon and need an economical, fun, daily driver.

i got a couple buddys with 3rd gens and a few with 4th gen lt1 and a bunch with ls1....im a mustang guy myself 87-95 but the f body can be clean and fast especially the ls1...but nice car its got a clean body...put some sub frame connectors on it and a nice gear and you will be set with that trans and motor

Nice car and nice build. Have fun trying to make it hook, LOL. And as mentioned before the rear ends are weak. I like automatics, but the 4l60e's are soo garbage. Good thing you got a 6 speed.

We have a green 95 z28.
-Original LT1 with 180k miles on it.
-Stock intake mani and TB, stock heads.
-Cam/springs/retainers/hardened pushrods/guide plates/1.6 (IIRC) roller rockers
-pacesetter headers / true dual with morosso spiralflows
-homemade CAI
-Mail order tune
-UDP's
-Built Turbo 350 with stall
-3.73's with ratchet locker
-only suspension mods are eibach sportline springs, adjustable lower control arms, and drop brackets.
-Running 275 street tires

Ran a 7.80 skeetin sideways the whole way down the track

Ran a 7.20 with a 100 shot, again cowboying it all the way down the track.

Here's my build, 4 years of work into this car mind you. And not all me a little of our shop and lots of friends blood, sweat, and tears into his thing. I need a better driver then me though, I am only pooling low 11's when everyone is saying I should be int he mid 10's. I've been through 2 6-speeds and if this one blows, I'm getting a built AOD.

yea, I've gotta say sub frame connectors are gonna be sweet when I get mine on! a set of 3.73 rear gears is another thing that is supposed to be helpful, but we'll see. I've heard a lot of good stuff about them, but on my car I want them VERY BADLY. Just check out the work I've got ahead of me fixing the rust. 3.73 gears are nice. I had 3.73 on my car when I bought it. They weren't tall enough for me though.

That's alot of rust OMG
