My $300 1g

I picked up a 1994 eclipse GS automatic today. I paid $300 for it. It has 117,xxx miles on it. It runs good but won't move. It just revs really high and barely moves when in gear. Torque converter maybe? Anyway, my actual plan for the car was to raid the really nice interior and a few other parts for my son's AWD Laser(his interior is in terrible shape and missing pieces), sell what parts I can, then junk it. Now I am not sure, since it is in really good shape, I may turn it into a DD for my wife. Here are some pics. Parts car or DD?

Either the tranny has a leak and the fluid is low or the clutches are burned up. Did you check the fluid?

I check the fluid before we towed it. It has fluid. I haven't really gotten into it yet because it is cold and both garage bays have other DSM's in them

That sounds about right for someone with more than 1 DSM

my first dsm look same just have red color and manual tranny for DD car is perfect

Might be tired of hearing this, but DD hands down. It's in great shape. And for $300, you have room to put money into it to fix it up. It's in great condition. You could also get it fixed up and sell it for alot more than what you payed for it.

DD was the way I was leaning since it is so nice. I am just not sure about the tranny issues.

Great buy, I'd definately fix and DD it's in way too good of shape to strip. Worst case a tranny change isn't very hard

DSM was how plates were coded here a few years ago. I have plates like that on my DSM too!
I am going to start on digging in to this thing on Tuesday, worst case, I found a used auto tranny for $400 in Columbus (2hr drive). A $700 DD that is in great shape sounds pretty good.
I searched like a madman yesterday about non turbo 1g trannys. Is the 2.0 non turbo and the 1.8 auto tranny the same? I think they are as long as I don't get a 1990.

I don't know what would exclude the 90, though I know there are some distinct differences, so err on the side of caution. But as far as I know, the 1.8 and 2.0 N/T share the same transmission. In your case it would be an F4A22.

Your $300 investment looks really nice. As everyone else has said, DD that sucker up.
