Moving A/C controls?

Has anyone ever been successful in moving the A/C controls. I looked in my dash doesnt seem too hard. It seems pretty simple I might have to just shave a couple of tabs and all. If anyone has done this can you please provide some input. I just want to move the controls all the way down by the shifter base.
