Motor oil?

I bought a used block with 3000 miles on it and i installed a new head and all other parts to make it a complete engine. The engine has sat for a while and I was wondering what the best oil to put in it would be when i get it running. I realize I will need to basically rebreak the enigne in so I was wondering what wieght/ and brands YOU think I should use.

Did you have the block hot-tanked?
For engine break-in, use whichever oil you prefer other than synthetic. Despite its liklihood of being a myth, many source still warn away from using them for break-in.

There's not 2¢ difference between modern oils.

Count on this thread having a very short life, as there are many oil threads already.

I'm a bit iffy on your "rebuild". Did you just throw this thing together, or did you take the block assembly apart and inspect every part?
