So im just about to drop my motor in to my car tonight. I already have the timing belt installed, but I would like to get my oil pressure raised before my first start. however, the engine will probably be sitting in the bay for a couple weeks before it gets started. What would be the best way to get my oil pressure up? I would redo the timing belt but I was just wondering if there is an easier way, and if the pressure will hold? Thanks!

There is many ways to raise the oil pressure before starting the car. the easiest one is to disconect the fuel pump and crank the car for couple seconds before starting the car ( make sure there is no fuel pressure in the fuel lines). You can unplug the coil pack and crank the car for couple seconds( but not to long cause you can flood the combustion chamber). Or you can just disconnect the starter relay put a pin between 87 and 30, it will energize the starter and crank the car (make sure you have no key in the ignition when you do that). Good luck

Best way is to undo the timing belt, put a drill (with 14mm drive bit) and spin the oil pump sprocket. That will get the oil flowing everywhere!

This is the best way to do it.

Wait to toss the belt on till the engine is ready to go in, spin the oil pump until the oil fills the head, toss timing stuff together and drop it in. After its in, pull the plugs, disconnect the CAS or Inj, and coil pack and let it crank until oil is seen in the head again using 5-10 second intervals. Its not a bad idea to disconnect the clutch switch if its not already so your not holding the clutch in while cranking. You wouldn't want to risk beating up that new thrust bearing.... Afterwards, toss the plugs in, connect your stuff and roll :hellyeah:

Yeah, that is the best way for sure. ^^^

If its a while before I start it, even after priming it, I'll pump oil thru the filter housing using an electric fuel pump. I put a fitting on the filter housing from the stock intake manifold and just run a hose to it.

So I have a bit of a problem with doing this. I have an external oil cooler set up with mt 90 OFH, how would I go about priming the motor with this? Just install it, prime, and then just kinda work it around when I am dropping in the motor?

Also, who has used a remote oil filter mount? The motor came with one, and im not too sure if I should use that, or use a smaller oil filter to avoid hitting my downpipe?

Thanks!!
