Okay so I have been doing a ton of reading and still am not coming up with the answers I’m looking for. I got a Mighty Max FFWD OFH and would like to figure out how to run a external oil cooler, since I cannot seem to get my hands on a 90 OFH (MD132912).

The biggest problem I’ve seen is that the Mighty Max OFH does not have the thermostatic valve that is required .

My question is has anyone run a external oil cooler on the Mighty Max OFH succesfully?
Do people just not run a oil cooler?

This is the sandwich plate I have and the best setup I’ve seen so far for a external oil cooler setup. (below)

Any help would be appreciated, thank you all!

You can drive the car without an external oil cooler. In some case, it is not super necessary, it depends on your usage of car though.
If you need/want to have an external oil cooler, the oil filter sandwich in the 1st pic is not the one you need. What you would need is a sandwich adapter for oil cooler w/ -8AN or -10AN send/return ports. Some oil cooler sandwich adapters already have a builtin cooler bypass valve on it. In that case, you don't need the thermostat block (cooler bypass valve) in the 2nd pic.

I’ve read some people run without it . Just makes me nervous. I’ll be installing a temp gauge . I basically just drive the car around and will be going auto when I put my built motor in. I usually only take it out to beat on it… was just concerned it might need a cooler. Thanks for the input!

Probably end up running this one with the built in valve, opens at 185 witch is only 5 degrees hotter than OEM from what I understand .. let me know what you think, thanks!!

It would be beneficial if you have it.
That Mishimoto sandwich adapter seems to be fine. I think you would need to buy a M20 male to M20 female adapter to mount.
Probably you can find one much cheaper on eBay but I am not sure about the quality.
