Megan Racing: Updated AWD Downpipe and Catback! (3in.) Opinions?

So for the 2g AWD cat-back, is it going to have resonators like the Apex'i? No one has mentioned that yet. I don't want it to be too loud. Also, will the muffler angle up slightly like the Apex'i N1?

And for the 2g AWD dp, I have the one that is full 3" except for the neck down to 2.75" at the o2 housing. Is there an easy way to make it bolt up other than buying an aftermarket o2 housing? How will the revised dp be at the o2 housing? And how off is the hanger on the un-revised dp? I am cutting the end off the dp to put a high-flow cat on so I can move it around a little. Would it be able to fit?

One more thing: Will Megan exchange the defective dp's for the revised versions? That would be the professional thing to do. :dsm:
 
I would also like to say that I agree with others that the tip is too angled. It would look a lot better like the N1 in the 1st two pics. I have a bunch of pics of how the N1 tip is positioned if you want to give them to Megan as a reference.

Oh, they know exactly how the N1 is positioned, as I had an N1 system on there when I went to the muffler shop to test the Megan catback. The problem with the N1 is the numberous pointless bends it has. By having the exhaust angled, another bend is reduced. If you look at the N1 catback off the car, it's ridiculous how many bends they put in it, when a straight pipe would have fit fine, with only one bend near the end right before the muffler.
 
Ok, so just leave out all those pointless bends. But one more bend near the end to make it a little straighter isn't gonna hurt. From the pictures it also looks like the Megan tip comes out lower and doesn't stick out from the bumper as much as the n1.

Any word on the resonators and when it's coming out ? I want this thing for x-mas! :D
 
How many n1's have been sold? Thousands have been sold with the angled tip. I personally like the style and like the fact that it has one less bend to reduce power. To call it ricer is not correct. Define ricer. My definition of ricer is to add parts that look cool or say they add power but have no actual performance benefit. Less bends straighter exhaust equals more power and yes a different look.
 
As long as the angled tip doesn't result in any scorching of the bumper I think it looks fine. It'd be nicer if it followed the "contour" of the bumper more... I really like the exhaust tips that are parallel to the back of the car. It looks a lot cleaner. But if it really hurts the flow that much...
 
I really doubt one more bend would do anything. I think people just like the peace of mind. Everyone has to have a 3" dp but even RRE says a 2.75" limits you to 600 hp or so. And something looking good doesn't make it rice. Things that are supposed to make the car look fast but actually do nothing is rice. Or is a Porsche ricer because they went to all that work making it look nice?

I also think the N1 had more bends because they were trying to get it as far off the ground as possible and so it had to follow the contours of the underside. The Megan one looks pretty low to me, but it might just be the angle of the pics.
 
OK look guys....If you want an exhaust a certain way, go to a muffler shop and have one made LOL. Trying to cater to everyone is impossible, and the majority of the people here were happy with the shape, and Megan wanted less bends. :thumb:

so megan is angle or not? i mean it really doesnt matter since most of dsmer is buying 3" exhaust for performance gain. But my personally opinion i think angle would be ++ as a look wise. So you know when the exhaust is coming out?
 
Yeah, the Megan exhaust will angle out at the end, much like the HKS Carbon-Ti. The angle of the picture I took is unnatural, as it is an angle below the car...It should look better from a normal angle.
 
With the pricing quality and look of a megan exhaust you can't go wrong. How many stainless exhausts are there for this price and how many come fully polished? I am extremely happy with the quality (I'm also picky) and even more happy it hardly cost what a big name catback cost for a whole turbo back. Hands down I would choose this exhaust over the hundreds available for our cars.
 
Has anybody had trouble posting pics to your gallery? I have been trying to upload my photos of my megan for all you 1g guys for about two weeks and no luck. I have tried several times.
 
Still waiting for this damn thing, I NEED IT!

Before I found that deal I was contemplating buying VRS' SS 3" tubing kit which in itself is $200 + SS Muffler ($100) + Shipping ($40) + local welding/fitment ($50) = $390.

everybody can see what the megan looks like on my 1g talon check out my gallery. I would show pics of the exhaust off of the car but due to the rules I cannot post them.
 
You can't show an exhaust off of a car? What rule is that? And if that is a rule then that is the most retarded thing I've ever heard.

Those pics look really good. I like the angle. How's the sound?

Unfortunately, it seems the supply of M-R 1G AWD downpipes seems to have runneth dry as noone seems to have them in stock (eBay, BoneHead).

Definitely. Will put together one of my current Buschur 2.5" turbo-back and maybe my friends 3" Extreme-Thermal (loud as f---) ;)
 
774/7/I love the sound it's pretty loud but not thermal loud. With just the catback on it was pretty rasppy but the downpipe cleared up all of that. I would post a sound clip but I'm not to sharp with the computer It's lucky that I know How to post pics. I want to say this though you'd never believe it from the pics but the downpipe was filthy and did'nt have any shine to it at all. The guy who had it before me blew his turbo and there was burnt oil on it everywhere. It took me about four hours total and a lot of mothers polish and even more elbow grease but in the end it turned out beautiful just as high quality stainless should.
 
I just ordered the dowpipe myself. TOPSECRET if you ever get sound clips let us know I may get the megan cat back depending on sound I'm sure it performs like all 3" exhaust if not I am gonna just do a Magnaflow cat-back

Where in the world did you find the 1g awd downpipe? It is nowhere to be found on ebay...How much did you end up paying for it?

I found one on ebay I looked everyday this month and finally found it :D . I got it for 138.90 shipped. I found some ebay code for 15 bucks off on the net and applied it. The seller was [email protected] or [email][email protected][/email]. You can try emailing him at 1 of those 2 emails and see if he has any left. I searched ebay now for you and I didn't see any left :cry:. It was shipped the same day I sent the money. So the UPS tracking says it was. I'll have pics up when it gets here.
