Megan Racing: Updated AWD Downpipe and Catback! (3in.) Opinions?

i have a feeling megan will have alot of buyers when it comes out. Guess ill ask for the magan cat back for christmas. Just ordered the megan dowpipe, hope it fits

I ended up getting my Megan Racing 3in DP to fit my 96 GSX by taking off the o2 housing, drilling the studs out and replacing them with the bolts that came with the DP just so it would bolt on!. Oh well, I had Medikee weld up a 3in catback for $150 supplying them with a $60 Megan Racing muffler, I was in bussness for around $340 total. not bad!

well i got mine downpipe about a month ago and i couldn't be any happier.I got a mgnaflow highflow welded on there.butt dyno was very happy.Megan seems to be making some nice prodects.I would definatly get a o2 housing if they made one.

To the guy with the manifold test unit: can you try to convince them to not make the collector as narrow as all the other models out there? We need something to match the Bullseye housing. Catering to the 6cm unported mitsu housing is so 1999.

I just put a megan racing 3" full exhaust on my 1g and I could'nt be happier. I got it used for $300 and I bought a a 3" stainless vrs test pipe from slowboy. The only place it comes close to anything is the flex in the downpipe. It comes fairly close to the transfer case. I am very happy with the fit and finish. Where else would you get full stainless for this kind of price that fit this well. Overall very happy with everything.

I would also like to say on the 1g model the downpipe starts at 2 1/2" for the first 3 inches and then goes to full 3" before the flex and remains a full 3" the entire length of the exhaust the only thing I had to add was a 3" test pipe

I've been talkin to Jose from megan racing and he said he'd update me as soon as the new exhaust for the 2g awd's and the tubular mani's were finished. I'll post here when I get an update.

So, the 1g awd downpipe only goes to the inlet of the cat; and the catback only connects to the outlet of the cat?

From what I understood before, the catback was cat eliminator so it would bolt-right up to the downpipe; but TOP SECRET just posted that he needed to get a 3" testpipe to bolt up the whole setup.....

That is correct I had to use a vrs test pipe to make it bolt together. The downpipe is not a cat eliminator. It may be diferent on 2g's. I'll try to add my pics a little later today.

Damn, that's too bad...Then if it was made to connect to the cat, does it bottle-neck down to the stock cat size or does it have a 3" outlet on both DP/CB....I am disapointed, I really thought it would've been a direct bolt up...They should make a cat-eliminator then

The 2g GSX downpipes are definitely cat-eliminating. I have the final production downpipe in my garage waiting to be installed, it definitely bypasses the cat. I just emailed them asking about the 1g downpipes, I'll post here when I get an answer as to whether or not the 1g downpipes are cat-eliminating or not.

thats what I don't understand if it's a full 3" how does it connect to the cat? and I dont see them on ebay anymore for a first gen awd..

I'm still waiting for a response about the 1g, since its at the prototype stage right now, he has to contact the owner of the 1g GSX that installed the prototype on his car. Anyway, I installed the updated 2g AWD downpipe prototype a few days ago...DAMN it sounds nice. I got the heatshield from the cat welded onto the downpipe so it looks like it has a cat on there...

The exhaust is full 3" no neck down. It will not connect to the factory cat without serious rigging. I am totaly pleased with the way the exhaust fit. It sounds mean really deep and it made huge power on my car (already had an evo 16g). In my opinion you will not get a better exhaust for the price even if you pay full price (got mine used for $300).

I dont think anyone mentioned this, BUT at slowboyracing.com they sell 1g awd cat back and downpipes.
You should really talk to the men there and have them either elim the cat. or at least make it be able to bolt up... thats a little weird that it doesnt..

chicago avenger- I just said on a 1g the megan racing cat back or downpipe will not fit the stock cat it does'nt neck down at all it's full 3" you'll either have to get a 3" cat or test pipe. The 1g downpipes also are not cat eliminating. Ihad to get a test pipe to connect it to the megan racing catback. The cat back may come with an adapter if you buy it new I'm not sure as I bought it used. I'll try to get the pics up in my gallery within the next few days.

Sorry guys, I haven't forgotten about your questions. I'm trying to get a hold of the Megan guy, theyre really busy lately, thats why the prototypes are taking extra long to come thru, theyre releasing soo many products. Just letting you guys know I havent forgotten...I'll post when I get answers.
