maxin out 550's?

currently running FIC 550's with dsmlink running 22-24psi on 93 pump gas with all supporting mods.. just wondering if there is a way to tell if im over doing the 550's.. is there a specific way to tell?
 
and i can do that option in dsmlink? and i should be logging it in WOT correct?
 
ok.. so should i use the stream on feature and then access the fuel page with the injduty %.. will i need to save the log in order to view the percent with out loosing the information of the log?
 
the truth.. no i have not read through the log.. i would just ask questions on here, and my friend that is knowledgable with tuning.. but im reading it now.. thanks
 
I don't mean to be rude and I'm certainly not against asking questions, but the manual is very helpful in explaining the program. Once you have read through it a few times and still have questions, then come here or on the DSMlink forums and we'll be more than happy to help you out. Once you get the hang of it, it's pretty simple to navigate your way through DSMlink.
 
Make sure that InjDuty is in your list of captured values. This is found under ECU > Captured Values. Then make sure it's displayed at the bottom under where the graph is. This is achieved by clicking Display > Values and making sure InjDuty is on the right hand side.

Then before you're ready to make a pull, click Capture. Then go make your pull. Then click stop. The log will be found in the location that's listed in the Filename box (which is to the left of the capture button).

Read the manual at least 3 times as well as the Getting started sticky on the DSMlink forums. Don't just start adjusting things before knowing what you're doing. If you want, post up a log and we'll be able to help you out more.
 
i just read the whole book.. learned a lot more then what i thought.. def. gonna read it again and keep messing with it on the laptop to get a hang of it.. i will take a log and post it on here and see what u guys think maybe tonight or the next few days.. thanks for all the help.. time to leave work.. later all:thumb:
 
If at any point in the log the InjDuty goes over 85% then you are maxing the injectors out. Make sure you are compensating the 550cc's corectly, if not compensated corectly the ecu will think they are maxed out when they could still flow more!
 
finally last night i tired to figure out my IDC and when i went into DSM LINK and i tried to move the InjDuty to the right side i couldnt, it was in bold and couldnt click/add it. am i doing something wrong here? also the same with the horsepower estimate. :confused:

You have to add stuff while it's connected to the car (if you weren't at the time). I would try again and make sure it's in your captured values list first and then add it in your displayed values. And I wouldn't really worry about the hp estimate as it's not really accurate.
 
ya the car was started and dsmlink was connected and on.. idk i will have to try again.. but ya with the HP value i was just curious and wanted to try it out haha.. but i will try again today and see what happens

How did you figure out that one??? I've seen logs with IDC's around 105% with no knock, so I'm going to completly disagree with you. Most don't recommend going over 80% with the IDC just for safety. Imagine pushing 25psi at 100% IDC and the wastegate gets stuck. :notgood:

Maybe you have too many values on the right side. I'm not sure on DSMlink, but on some ECU's you can only capture so many values. YOu may have to move a value like coolant temp to teh left to get INjDuty on the right. Give it a try

With DSMLink I think you get a couple hundred samples per second. I'm sure someone on here knows the exact number but I don't off the top of my head.

You need to be connected to the ECU to add captured values, so that could be your problem if you weren't connected.

It's definitely not a couple hundred, but it's fairly fast on 2g's. I'm getting 15 samples per edit:seconds total while capturing 20 values.

This sounds like the problem to me as well.

I might have to disagree with you on this one. :)

According to this post by Kevin Jewer, it's over 200 samples/sec

9 samples a second with 3 items becomes 3 samples per second, or a capture every .33 seconds or so. I'm not sure that correlates with the gaps in the RPM between datapoints. But this is one of the many drawbacks of using an OBD2 based system. Oddly enough, with DSMlink the 2g ECU is twice as fast as the 1G, so for once the 2G guys get the sample rate advantage. Stupid typo--I meant it as samples/second. 15x20 is 300 samples/second total, which is what Kevin meant I believe.
 
i havent had time to try it again but when i did try to add it as a captured value DSMlink was connnected to the ECU with the car running
