Maxing out 550's??!!

Here is my setup, 18g turbo @20psi, HKS 264 cams, Keydiver Stage 3 chip, 49-50psi base fuel pressure w/Walbro 190 and RC 550cc injectors.I just did some tuning with more boost and I just can't completely tune out all the knock, best I can do it 7-10counts with max 21degrees timing advance. So I get home, check my IPW and calculate that I'm hitting 100-106% IDC.

Does this sound right to you guys? Am I truely maxing out the 550's or am I missing something?

intercooler? turn the boost down
 
I got the Supra SMIC, its fine...upper pipe is cool even after a hard pull or 2. I was running the same boost last year without the new cams and it ran fine, max 90% duty cycle and no knock, now with the cams the car has come alive, my AFC hz are 250more than last year.

not to be a douche but the supra sidemount is not as good as you think it is. Take the car to the track ill bet money it dies at the top of 3rd and into 4th. Mine did running 20psi on my 16g. How the hell do you run a 8.2@83 in the 1/8th and only go 100mph in the 1/4 at a 13.0 THat soab was heat soaking like a MOFO. Anyway i swapped to a fmic instant gain of 2-3mph trap speed and 18awhp on the dyno. The supra flows well but the amount of air that is directly hitting it causes it to heat soak quicker than some people think. At least in my case. Id recomend a fmic but it does seem like you are maxing your injectors out.

oh fmic and 1g throttle body netted me 7mph over supra sidemount and stock 2g tb.

Your right NewB@dsm, i went to the track Saturday and could only hit 13.2 @102, same damn times as last year but I've done a lot since then. In the 1/8th I got about 8.2-8.4@84. After the run the upper IC pipe was very warm. I figure with the hot air I'm having to dump in more fuel to hold back the knock hence me maxing out the 550's.
I'm also gonna check for boost leaks too...haven't done that in awhile.
 
that's a lot of timing for that kind of airflow.. try ~20*, you'd be surprised the difference that 1 degree might make. also turn up the fuel pressure a few lbs. the 550s can cover ya but barely
 
Highpsi: I can't turn the fuel pressure up more, already at 49psi...thats enough for me.

FYI I found 3 boost leaks, nothing major, but i could definetly feel the air leaking out..
Its kinda beyond me that I'm maxing out the 550s even with more fuel pressuer while only getting low 13's at 102mph in the 1/4. My friend who sold me these injectors ran low 12's (400whp), mind you he had a FMIC.
 
A FMIC will be a huge help. If you are looking for pump gas power you should look into at least 660's. Since we only have 91 up here, I use race gas at the track, so 550's are suffice for my needs at the moment.
 
A FMIC would be nice, but I can't afford it right now, this car is a money pit and not helping me pay off debt. I'm just gonna turn the boost down to 17 like it was before and leave it there.
Although I do have the opportunity to get my hands on some barely used 720's for cheap, i could sell my 550's for the same price, this way I can lower my IDC...kind of a bandaid fix tho.
 
I went 98mph on stock sidemount and piping on 19-20psi, with FMIC went 108mph @22psi. With race gas went 113.75mph at 26psi.

the injectors are porbably rated at 45 or 50 PSI.. if you crank up the pressure to 55 you'll be able to get more out of them, lots of people have gone long ways on the 550s by doing so.

also make sure your base timing is set to 5. if you are running too much timing for your octane you'll find yourself dumping a lot of gas.
 
I really appreciate the help guys. I realize now the next mod is FMIC, but no can do right now since I have no more cash. I'll just tune it as best I can with the Supra SMIC...maybe I'll rig up an intercooler sprayer to help keep her cooler.
