Hey guys,
my mods are in my profile and i was wondering if any of you have a similiar set up, if you do my question is what is a safe amount of boost to run on 93 octane? i probably wont be using the c16 very much but what would a safe amount be on that one.

thanks in advance,

Mike D.

wow.... a lot of differing opinions. what factors are going to determine what the right amount will be. i will have the car back this weekend, and i know i need to get a logger to absolutely sure but anymore insight will be very helpful.
thanks for the replies!!

so it's basically a "get in it. drive it. log it. and find out for youself" kind of thing.

thanks for the responses

what are you basing this on? Or are you just throwing a guess out there?

he has a Joe P Mbc @15 psi ok K&N with no air can he Removed honey comb he is using Ngk spark plugs for an exaust he has 2.5 downpipe 2.5 exh. with a Magnflow muffler.. to the feul he has 550cc injectors ball type 255 wal. the Fuel pump Safc 2 ported 14b he got the Ported 2g Manifold, reading with a Boost Gauge Egt Gauge Uego Gauge type controller gauge Pocket Logger .... do u see any internal work??? please tell me how many pounds of boost can that engine hold with stock internals??...from what i have been informed 21-24 pounds he wants to run safly if i recall??? gosh do u hate me??..i could be wrong but this is to my knowledge
:dsm:

Ohh wrong turbo but still bak to my question.... how many pounds can the internal of his engine hold"??? he want the max of safe boost.. ok u make sense but i am statting from what i was told a stock motor can hold 19-21 pounds safely... i would like to be corrected if i am wrong.. :dsm:

For the most part my internals are stock. I have a Big 16G turbo, 550 cc's, S-AFC, 2.5" down pipe, and I run 17 psi all day long on 91 octane. Runs just fine.

his internals could hold up, but the fuel injectors are too small to run that much boost safely

my personal opinion keep the boost at 19-21 pounds depending on the car... but do what u feel comfterable with... i meen u have all of the supporting mods i would say go with bigger injectors like highpsi said but hey u run 17psi all day then it seem like no problem..now u have no internal... by the way how many miles are on that car? because u need to watch out for the inside breaking on u... safely try 19-21 like i said.. :thumb:

thats what im worrie about enough fuel for that much boost 550 for a 57 trim is kinda small im thinkin and i dont want to mess the engine up

agreed your duty cycle on your 550's is maxed, your gonna lean out a cylinder. LoL@the thought of having a 57 trim with 550's ROFL ROFL :nono:

How can any of you even attempt to suggest anything to this guy without knowing what turbo he has? You guys are thinking that the bigger the trim the more power right? The term "57 trim" doesnt mean shit. Anybody ever here of a t66? That's a 52 trim. How about a t88? 59 trim. Gt35r? 56 trim. The 14b is a 55 trim. Does that mean it's going to make more power than the 52 trim t66? The big 16g is a 50 trim, the small 16g is a 60 trim.

Chances are most of you guys are pretty close with your "guesses" but you can't just start throwing numbers out there without knowing what turbo he has.

The only way to determing how much boost you can safely run is by datalogging and tuning. Start as low as you can and start working your way up. If everything is properly built, maintained, and tuned then the stock bottom end could handle 400+whp.

I DID NOT know this kinda stuff before. I knew that a 57 trim was smaller than a 50 trim. How do you come up with the trim numbers like that? Can you further 'elaborate' on this? Im kinda interested. :thumb: Im adding to your reputation too
