Okay so I am wondering what people think...I know of a few people in my area that pushed between 475-500awhp on stock bottom ends. However, those were on stock 1g bottom ends...my setup is 1g with 1g big rods, 2g pistons, no balance shafts, metal head gasket and arp bolts. I am just curious what people's experience is because I don't want to blow my car up this season as I am about to put a new fuel/turbo/EMS setup on it so I am not going to do pistons and rods until next winter. Any feedback would be helpful.

Thank you very much.

Metal HG + ARP + Big Rods = good to go.

"Big" 1G rods will definitely hold to 500HP. Honestly, in 15years I've never heard of someone breaking one at any HP level.

Also realize that a poorly tuned 300HP engine is more likely to break than a well-tuned 500HP engine.

Thanks, that was my understanding as well. A very good friend of mine ran his at 503whp and stretched his rods very very very little and told me I should be careful. I just wanted to confirm with some more people, kinda like going to a doctor and getting a second opinion.

Also, I had it pushing about 315awhp last year and was tuned VERY conservatively with my old setup. This year I have a little advantage which is my best friend whose shop is helping me with this just got back from AEM in Cali where he went to "school" for tuning and they taught the class on a DSM. In addition, a fabricator that recently left our area now works for AEM and can help. Devin from Osofast racing who did many DSMs when he was in Texas and in Detroit before going to AEM.

Thanks so much and any others feel free to chime in.

Speaking of tuning. . .how much was it to go to school there?. . . . AEM. which is better AEM or UTI? :rocks:
