Quick question. 1st time DSM build.

I'm in the middle of rebuilding my 7bolt motor I just got back from the machine shop.

Now, According to the Chilton's manual. It says to torque the main cap bolts to 18 ft/lbs. + 1/4 turn.

I came up stairs to check this on here to make sure this is correct ### to me that seems pretty loose, but i could be wrong.

I came across this thread:

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/cyl...t-main-cap-torque-sequence-torque-values.html

That guy says its 55 ft/lbs on a 7bolt. To me sounds more logical, and the link someone posted at the end to verify, I am unable to view.

I havent found any other information on the forums saying either or.

Can someone help me with this little problem? Thanks

Ok, well, Im gonna assume this is correct information, being that im sure everyone here uses this manual and hasnt had a problem yet. I wont continue on this til tomorrow so any other info will be appriciated.

6-bolt main caps are 47-51 ft. lbs. The PDF at the end of that post states 49 ft. lbs.
7-bolt main girdle (at least for a 2G and I have no reason to believe the 1G 7-bolt engine is any different) is 18 ft. lbs. + a 90 to 100 degree turn.
