I'm shooting for 600 awhp and would obviously prefer a T3 to a mitsu, but my dilemma is that I have built my car to be a sleeper and can't find a T3 manifold that I can hide or that looks anywhere near stock. I inquired about and ERL cast manifold and wanted to have the wastegate pipe coming off of the top removed, but it's not possible. What are your opinions about making my hp goals and keeping my car a sleeper at the same time? Btw, turbos I was looking at were the PTE 6262, PTE 6266, and FP 3582, all in T3 form. Also, are there any heat shields I could use to hide a T3 manifold? I'm open to any and all ideas.

I would pick a T3 manifold and turbo based off the best possible performance and then figure out how to hide it. I'd suggest a custom made shield or possibly a manifold blanket. Although IMO, anything that's "hidden" is bound to raise suspicion with other car guys, but would probably work on the untrained eye. Who are you hiding this from?

The 600whp capable turbo is going to be a bit of a clue as to the cars capabilities, do you have a plan for the turbo as well? And then there's the 4" inlet pipe, possibly a SMIM.. 600 wheel sleeper will be hard to pull off, your best bet is probably a ported oem manifold/shield and the FP30 housing (DSM82), or the FP manifold and modify the oem shield to fit.

Thanks guys. I know the large housing will be a bit of a giveaway, but I'm hoping that people just won't pay that close attention when they see the engine bay and how unimpressive it looks. As long as I can figure out a way to hide or mask the manifold, I think I'll be in good shape. Here's a pic of the bay now. It has more parts than you might think just by looking at it. A custom shield may be a good idea, although I haven't the slightest idea where to get one. I'm trying to hide it from everyone! Of course if people really want to know, I won't lie. I'm not trying to make money or anything. I just love the feeling of winning races when you're the "underdog."
Btw, here are some of my basics: 2.3l, built head, magnus smim, e85, shep stage 4, blah, blah, blah.

Im wondering why does this even matter? Most people that know about racing can look at your engine bay and see that there is a big compressor housing. This would give it away...

If you insist on the most stock looking setup then go with any of the FP turbos. You could use a stock 1/2G exhaust manifold and put a heat shield on top of it. The turbo would nicely tucked in with a wastegate coming from the turbine housing. I think thata as sleeper as you will get.

You could try calling MAP and see if they'll do an EF4 for a DSM.

It sounds exactly like what you want.

Your car sounds a lot like mine, really just depends on how fast you want that car to spool and what your plans are for the car. I'm getting ready to yank my FPred because I want make an easy 9 second pass even though many think I can do it with the Red. My car makes 600awhp pretty easily and is extremely streetable on a 2.3.

I am still considering (25% chance) I'll keep the Red since the knew rules for stock appearing turbo for the DSM Shootout would allow this thing, seems crazy to me, but hey, rules are rules :D.
