I don't want to go all out in performance, just a step up from my current T25 daily driver. If I can get away with it I'd like to get a 16g in there without fooling with a fuel controller right away. I am ordering a 190lph pump in the next two weeks. I am planning on just going up to a s16g (ported) in a month. I'm curious though as to how much power I would be able to get out of a b16g without upgrading to 550cc's and a fuel controller? Not the Evo III, just a regular b16. Will I still get a reasonably strong amount of pull out of the non-tuned turbo? Or would it be better to just stick with a s16 until I feel the need to upgrade to something larger than a piece from the 16g lineup? Thanks in advance for your thoughts and help.

lets just put it this way....all 3 turbos are almost the same darn price. get the fricken evo3....injectors...fuel pump...safc2...and pocketlogger. ull never hafta upgrade again. that setup will get you pretty far. no matter what u say when u feel a lil power u immediately want more! as for fuel, you will need fuel components with an upgraded turbo....simply because u hafta jack up the boost a bit for the power to come.....goodluck forget the b16 and s16

There is really not a whole lot of difference between the b16g and s16g--the words big and small are quite deceiving. The Evo16g flows more than either, and is the middle ground between the 16gs and an independent manufacturer's 50 trim (technically, the EvoIII 16g is a 50 trim, but just barely ;)).

If you are not planning to upgrade your fuel components, you will not notice a large increase in power. Used Evo8 560cc injectors can be had from EvolutionM.net for around $100-130, and if you throw a SAFC and pocketlogger into the mix, you won't need a fuel pump to notice a drastic increase in power. On cold nights in Virginia last winter, I ran 20 psi on the Evo16g, stock smic, and pump gas, with the stock fuel pump and 560 cc injectors, with my AFC settings around -5 across the board. I still had good timing (10* on the low end, 19* at 6500 rpm).

Now, I would not advise running 20 psi daily on the stock fuel pump and stock smic...but with 560s you should be able to run 16-17 psi on the EvoIII 16g fairly safely. Try to borrow someone's logger and make sure your timing is good.

So, in my opinion--go with any 16g you like, and buy a SAFC and 560cc injectors. That should put you well on your way to 12 second time slips if you're awd, and a 300hp pump gas dyno if you're fwd.
