just so you know i have one it wont last as long as my friends im sure but hes a lucky sob! =-( he has had his for going on 4 years which is alot to ask to a balanced evo 16g and he Prison beats his car everywhere he goes. It will be funny tho hes the type of dude that when it blows he'll be like cheap ebay turbo this turbo was trash and blah blah blah. LOL the guy that had the car before me had it on for 6 months and when i bought it no shaft play what so ever but im really unlucky so it will ###### only last for 6 more months but then im going

I don't want to sound like I am supporting these eBay turbos, but I just removed the one that was on my car when I bought it. I personally put 20,000 miles on the turbo. Boost ranged from 15 psi to 22 psi and it still has zero shaft play.

However, it spooled like absolute garbage. The 50 trim that is on the car now has almost identical spool characteristics as the 16G did. The wastegate actuator that came with it was also of poor quality. I left the gate to flap in the wind when I did my external gate off the O2 housing and even with a 46mm external gate, the 16G would creep to 22 psi because the flapper hole is so small.
 
its funny how many people hate on ebay. I know of 2 e316gs that have around 5 or 6k miles on them each and no signs of going bad.
 
I jus love how people talk shit on other peoples set up's. Ever think that maybe the person doesnt have the money to buy the top of the line stuff, or doenst use mommy and daddys money to buy the stuff. Buy what you can afford. Set up looks nice man.
 
I hope this turbo works out. Do you any plans on getting it on a dyno? Keep us posted good or bad.

just because i got a ebay turbo and its running good dose not mean im supporting them there good and bad.and also some people don't go to the extreme to care about air flow numbers . the just want to have fun. i like the setup but i don't know about that blue hose. i think if every one could they would bye good stuff. i hope i didn't offend anyone. :applause:

Used MHI has proven to be better and costs the same. Mommy and Daddy would approve.
 
If you can't afford to buy a used Mitsubishi 16G, your probably shouldn't be swapping turbos on a DSM in the first place.
 
Good. Luck man my friend had an eBay 16g and put it on a gs-t. Two weeks later we switched the little t-25 back in because the 16g had so much shaft play the compressor wheel scraped on the compessor housing...then think of where all those metal chips ended up... Is it worth the extra 200 dollars to get a real mhi 16g? My vote is yes

I'd prob take a chance on the manifold and o2 dumptube tho
 
I love how the 2% of people who's turbo or manifold didn't break or blow on them in the first week are super enthusiastic about it and QQ all over the hating.
An overwhelming majority say they are complete garbage, then it's likely true.

Put me in the 2nd group.
 
IDK Guys I ran a GODSPEED (sell on Ebay and have there own site) 20G at 23lbs on my 95 GST DD on a Daily basis 50miles per day to and from work and never had an issue with the turbo. I paid $500 for the turbo, I put 23k miles on the car in one year before i sold it for a 4x4 Jeep. My only real Complaint was the damn J pipe bolts kept working loose even with Red loc tite. Hope it turns out as good for you.

Since when does a 20g need a J pipe?
 
I have had the eBay 16g on my daily driver Galant for 13k miles. I could buy 4 more before I would have spent the money on a MHI one. ROFL
 
Some peoples work out fine as the QC actually saw them apparently. For most as Rob10_99 stated are junk and I for one wouldn't run one. It's not the fact that the turbo will fail, it's the fact that the turbo will fail AND potentially to destroy the engine with it. If there wasn't that second part, then yeah I might even run one if it would last say 20k miles before dying. I'm more concerned about my internals though.
 
i think every thing is shiny i just replaced a turbo xs 16g that i bought on ebay two years ago due shaft play and it was dd at 24psi until it started spiking up to 35psi for no reason other than the half inch left to right play it found a new home in the dumpster out back new tdo5 20g installed not to be mistaken for the tdo6 which doesnt need a j pipe
 
I think your mistaken my friend, only the "Super" 20g does not require a j-pipe.
