Lets talk Ebay FMIC. Especially if you have one.

I have read a couple of threads on ebay intercoolers but just wondering which ones out there that are actually good? Allot of them have something that goes like this

"Good for up to 500bhp(I have seen from 350-600). all our intercooler has been tested to withstand more then 80psi pressure and it has very small pressure drop across the end tanks, at 15psi inlet the out let has 14.8psi that means it has only 0.2 psi pressure drop ,compare to many other intercoolers it is an excellent figure (some intercooler has 1-2psi pressure drop) also at the same condition, the temperature has drop from 120 degree to 28 degree ( and it is an excellent figure for efficiency"

Is the above statement just a bunch of bs or true? Has anyone tried the Megan racing FMIC? I think it's crazy to spend 700+ on a core and piping. I really don't care about name brands I just want it to work. Kinda like a Dave Brode part or Megan Racing or Johnny Racecar FMIC all cheap but effective with great quality. Here are just a couple of FMIC I'm talking about that look good but do they perform and will they last? Please chime in if you have a ebay FMIC or had one especially if it worked or did not work well for you. thanks

Megan FMIC

No name brand but has the standard psi and efficiency spill

Street Imports FMIC

XOXO Core but has good feedback on the core

OT: Please be careful with using that fernco coupler as your intake. It won't blow up as most would suspect, but I would be mighty careful with it failing on you and therefore ruining your turbo.

Ya ive kept my eye on it, i have 2 ferco couplers on the gm sensor. So far no melting, ripping, or extreme weakening. I will upgrade but theyve held strong for over a year and havnt gotten around to silicon yet

Where are you guys putting your coolant reservoirs when installing the 2g SSAC kits?

I've heard you can keep it in the stock location by bending the stock bracket?

mine is relocated to the stock side mount location like the dejon fmic kits, if you go to dejon web site you can get a good picture of what im talking about and how to mount it

During my SSAC 2G install I went to Kragen and bought a generic overflow bottle and also put it where the stock side mount was. It didn't look to me that there was any way to keep it in the stock location and it was just really easy to put another one in where the side mount was.

Sweet, I forgot to ask about discounts, I guess its a good thing I'm on every local and national DSM site :D

Plus what's the best way to hook one of these up to a side facing turbo like the T25/T28

has anybody tried putting a 2g ssac fmic kit on a 1g? considering the 2g setup has the shortroute vs. all that piping on the 1g kit

Hey I was wondering why this FMIC comes with more clamps and connectors than the regular ssac kit. I understand the regular SSAC kit is missing one (which would be 4 silicone connectors), but this one has 6?

It looks like it has a HUGE 90* elbow too, like the ends are way extended compared to the standard SSAC kit below.

and if you look closely at the first ebay item, he shows 6 couplers, then 5 in the last picture on eBay. Anyone had any experience with this FMIC kit? It's cheaper than the other SSAC FMICs on eBay.

For those of you with 98/99 GSX's/GST's that had the Evap cannisters and what not in the driver side bumper, how did you remove/reroute that cannister, and do you have a CEL for it?

Thanks

Sorry for the late reply. If you are still wondering this, I just left mine there but shifted it over to the side a bit. Everything fits, there is no need to remove it.

If your still wanting to put your ssautochrome kit on a t-25 or t-28 heres what pipe i found to work best. But you go to trim your radiator fan leg at the bottom.

ETS (95-99) 2G DSM Eclipse/Talon T25 Pipe

I have a FMIC from ETDMotors that I love. It stays very close to ambient from what I can tell. I am about to install an AIT sensor so I will have real temp #s soon, sinec I have a GM Mas. But it is very cool on the exit side. I have the 31 x 12 x 13 intercooler from them. They have a website @cxracing.com. This is the one I have. cxracing.com: Turbo Intercooler 31x12x3, 3 inch Inlet & Outlet, S13 S14 240SX Mustang Supra RX7 Eclipse Celica He has piping kits also and the price is great. Excellent t-bolt clamps & 3 ply couplers. The pipes in the kit have rolled edges and are thick polished aluminum. I think I got the FMIC & whole piping kit for $250 shipped from him off his ebay store and I am VERY happy with it.

I took the charcoal cannister out, left the solenoid plugged in and out of the way.

Will update if it throws a code,in which I'll put it all back and bend it out the way

I moved that Cannistor to the Passenger side. I used the original parts but just modified everything. As for the solenoid, I re wired it to go to the passenger side. Just add wires to it to extend it to the new location. Works perfectly. I used the old smic bolts and bolt locations to bolt this cannister there.
Oh and I have the XO2 Intercooler. Works perfectly always cool and I'm currently boosting 21-22psi with the Evo3 16G. Mine is 12x3x23. Kept my stock 98 Talon fogs. Custom fabbed my IC pipes with JC Whitney bends. T-clamps on everything.

i have the ssautochrome kit. for those of you running this kit with the greddy type s bov, did you guys put a new flange on it? i know it is flanged for a 1g bov, in which case i could just drill new holes for the type s but my question is regarding the size of the hole on the flange. It is way to small for the type s. here's a pic for reference. what you guys are seeing is the type s gasket over the flange. notice the size difference?

Hi everyone. I'm a new member, but I've been reading the forum for many months now, and in particular this thread as I was in the market for a good priced FMIC.
After much research, this forum encouraged me to "take the plunge" and I bought the XS Power/SS Autochrome 1G kit last week. I got the kit 3 days ago, and must say that for $220 shipped, the quality is AMAZING!!! However, I do have one question for those of you who have also purchased this kit.
The pipe with the BOV flange is missing the flange for my 1G BOV (see pic below). The pipe has an opening on to which a flange can be welded on, but isn't the flange supposed to come already welded on with the kit??
Any advice on what I can do (contact SSAutochrome)??? Also, if I have to end up cutting my losses and weld it on myself can anyone direct me to where I can buy the flange??

Wow. I think it is amazing that this intercooler kit shows how much bullshit it is to charge 700 bucks for an intercooler and piping when this works just as well.

What piping kit did you end up going with? How much did you have to hack it?
