I have read a couple of threads on ebay intercoolers but just wondering which ones out there that are actually good? Allot of them have something that goes like this

"Good for up to 500bhp(I have seen from 350-600). all our intercooler has been tested to withstand more then 80psi pressure and it has very small pressure drop across the end tanks, at 15psi inlet the out let has 14.8psi that means it has only 0.2 psi pressure drop ,compare to many other intercoolers it is an excellent figure (some intercooler has 1-2psi pressure drop) also at the same condition, the temperature has drop from 120 degree to 28 degree ( and it is an excellent figure for efficiency"

Is the above statement just a bunch of bs or true? Has anyone tried the Megan racing FMIC? I think it's crazy to spend 700+ on a core and piping. I really don't care about name brands I just want it to work. Kinda like a Dave Brode part or Megan Racing or Johnny Racecar FMIC all cheap but effective with great quality. Here are just a couple of FMIC I'm talking about that look good but do they perform and will they last? Please chime in if you have a ebay FMIC or had one especially if it worked or did not work well for you. thanks

Megan FMIC

No name brand but has the standard psi and efficiency spill

Street Imports FMIC

XOXO Core but has good feedback on the core

I used my old Dejon piping and it is modified for a Magnus but I will post some pics of a Friends car that we installed the kit on... Most the short route piping is about the same...

Here is how the piping would be routed (kit mocked up):

Lookin good Trev_scott. Did you get that from me? I know I remember talking to you...
BTW I see you are running the Type S BOV, I get like 10 questions a ay about it. All you had to do was drill new holes for the type s right?

I feel you on that Ive been waiting a month now, my poor evo 3 16g aint gonna know what to do when she has a nice front mount given her all that cool air. I cant really do anything cause im waiting on them damn pipes to come in. Ive had the front mount for 2 weeks now but no pipes.

im gonna be a bit pissed if i have to wait a month or even two weeks without a piping kit

Bought it straight from xs-power.
All I did for the type-s was drill two new holes on an angle.
Heres a crappy pic I drew up. The red holes are the ones i drilled for the type-s:

I havent heard of anyone trying to do a down facing turbo or a MAFTranslator on the SSAC 1g longroute. So i decided to do both. The UICP needed to be cut almost to the BOV, but other then that some shifting of pipes was all it took to get get them to match up perfectly. And yes i know that the couplers are crap but its what i got ill silicone ones are delivered.

so, all in all, the ebay intercoolers and piping(most of them) are good buys? I, to am looking into buying an intercooler and don't want to pay the $900 for a core and piping.

Also:
qoute
"I have heard that most of the cooling happens in the first 2 inches. Don't know much about the science behind that though. I would assume it's from the coolest air being there."

IMO, which i believe physics would agree how much cooling depends on the airflow through the core, the amount of boost pressure and the efficience of the core itself. Naturally if your only trying to cool 7psi of boost its not going to take as much of the core as say 25psi. Hope that helps... just trying to contribute

Correct. I remember when i was in the same situation you are in right now.

Don't feel like spending 900+ bucks on an intercooler, but really want one LOL. Oddly enough i stumbled upon a really good deal and 6 months later i'm selling 1g FMIC kits for a lot cheaper then everything else. (its a long story)

In the end its nice to give back to the community.

Recieved my fmic kit today from 2gawdtalon. Packaged great, no dents in box or anything. Pull the intercooler out, bottom row is smashed in, appears to have been damaged before shipped.
