Lets talk Ebay FMIC. Especially if you have one.

I have read a couple of threads on ebay intercoolers but just wondering which ones out there that are actually good? Allot of them have something that goes like this

"Good for up to 500bhp(I have seen from 350-600). all our intercooler has been tested to withstand more then 80psi pressure and it has very small pressure drop across the end tanks, at 15psi inlet the out let has 14.8psi that means it has only 0.2 psi pressure drop ,compare to many other intercoolers it is an excellent figure (some intercooler has 1-2psi pressure drop) also at the same condition, the temperature has drop from 120 degree to 28 degree ( and it is an excellent figure for efficiency"

Is the above statement just a bunch of bs or true? Has anyone tried the Megan racing FMIC? I think it's crazy to spend 700+ on a core and piping. I really don't care about name brands I just want it to work. Kinda like a Dave Brode part or Megan Racing or Johnny Racecar FMIC all cheap but effective with great quality. Here are just a couple of FMIC I'm talking about that look good but do they perform and will they last? Please chime in if you have a ebay FMIC or had one especially if it worked or did not work well for you. thanks

Megan FMIC

No name brand but has the standard psi and efficiency spill

Street Imports FMIC

XOXO Core but has good feedback on the core

got mine a couple of days ago and no dents or anything. Looks pretty good

2gawdtalon, you still selling these kits? I haven't been keeping up with this thread for a while..
Yes, but hurry up and order because of the 2 damaged kit I am about to raise holy hell with SSAC and we might have a falling out.
So what should we do? Wait till you get back to us or?
Dude, PM me, I will 100% take care of you. Just like I said above.
Well finally after waiting almost 2 months since i ordered mine I received my pipe kit today. everything looks good just need to get the other coupler and clamps.
1 month dude... Thank you for being understanding! If you have any questions let me know, I will help!

Well they told me to file a claim with FedEx, I did. The box did not appear to be damaged in the spot where the intercooler was sitting, but I can see the box not showing any signs. We will see how it goes.

My first ebay intercooler was bent too and the seller tried to blame it on FedEx ground when it was clearly damaged prior to shipment. It took 2 months but the seller did make good and sent me what I had actually ordered (first one was also a tube-&-fin).

how much are you guys getting the ssac fmic for from 2gAWDtalon?? I read somewhere and it said 295 shipped then i read in another thread and they said 310 shipped.

I baught my fmic from an ebay store called something like "JustIntercoolers" (I think). It is bar and plate, 3.5x8x28inch core. The inlet and outlet are on the same side, and it is cross flowing, across the botttom, up the other side, and back across the other way. I had it tucked up in by bumper with only the bottom 3 inches showing for the winter and just recently droped it down into the opening a week ago. Over the winter it did not get chiped or anything, no bent fins. That is quite a feat, even though it only saw 1000 miles worth of the winter. I would recomend this brand to anyone. The intercooler was listed as fitting on mustangs and camaros. I measured it up and it fit perfictly. I will post some pics when I get a chance.

DiamondStarAwd got a brand new, undamaged ic. I do eveything and anything I can to take car of pople I do buis with. Thanks for your kind words above. Just like you guys are DSMers, I am to. I dont sell these kits to make money, I just do it to hook people up. I do make a little bit on them, $20 each, so its not like I am retiering on them.

We put an XS Power (SS Autochrome, in other words) intercooler on Sandra's AWD from Ebay. Seems to work exceptionally well, in my opinion. We'll dyno in a few weeks to see what gains are yielded from this. It was packaged really good, and had no bent fins or anything like that. Our kit was missing a pipe from the kit, and they worked with me to replace the pipe, but in the end, I wound up making the pipe. This is NOT a knock on them or the way they do business, because they really tried to help. I was just in a hurry to finish up and start the car, and I had some piping on hand. We bought it off Ebay for $182 for the kit.

On a side note....we had to cut some of the intake pipe in order to fit the smim and the GM MAF on there, but after that, it works great!

I didn't get the kit but I did purchase a Godspeed FMIC off Ebay. I was not willing to sacrifice my front bumper support so I decided to custom build my kit. Its about 28" from end to end and 9" tall and it is still higher up than the radiator support. Just my .02 but work harder to get the FMIC in with the bumper support and not have to replace it whenver someone accidentally bumps your car, like a parking lot and parallel parking. I bought it from Advan_Racing, which I think their ebay store is like Kami Speedo or something and it was 220 shipped in great packaging. Here's a pic.

edit: sorry about the crappy quality. I had to change it from JPEG to GIF because I 'exceeded my limit for uploaded content'
however I increase that I don't know, but you at least get the idea

Hey I am looking for a fmic. I want to get the ssautochrome one, but needing to lose the bumper support most say has turned me to the same one you got hopefully. My question is, do I need to cut away at the bumper cover to make this intercooler fit? I think it is less than 3" thick so hopefully I wont. How is it holding up? Any problems with it? Can you still use the 2gb fog lights with it? Are the end tanks visible like in the pics in the bumper cover opening?
