Lets talk Ebay FMIC. Especially if you have one.

I have read a couple of threads on ebay intercoolers but just wondering which ones out there that are actually good? Allot of them have something that goes like this

"Good for up to 500bhp(I have seen from 350-600). all our intercooler has been tested to withstand more then 80psi pressure and it has very small pressure drop across the end tanks, at 15psi inlet the out let has 14.8psi that means it has only 0.2 psi pressure drop ,compare to many other intercoolers it is an excellent figure (some intercooler has 1-2psi pressure drop) also at the same condition, the temperature has drop from 120 degree to 28 degree ( and it is an excellent figure for efficiency"

Is the above statement just a bunch of bs or true? Has anyone tried the Megan racing FMIC? I think it's crazy to spend 700+ on a core and piping. I really don't care about name brands I just want it to work. Kinda like a Dave Brode part or Megan Racing or Johnny Racecar FMIC all cheap but effective with great quality. Here are just a couple of FMIC I'm talking about that look good but do they perform and will they last? Please chime in if you have a ebay FMIC or had one especially if it worked or did not work well for you. thanks

I read through and didnt see anything on my question so i will ask. Is the XS intercooler setup for a downflow turbo? I have a 16g with jpipe pointing back to original spot from t25. Will this work with my setup and what would i need to make it work?

I looking for something somwhat easy to do only because i am new at modifying pipes. Or if i could take it somewhere and have someone else do it for me, that would be ok too. What about buying a new pipe? Anything helps...

It will arrive on tuesday. I will let you know how it goes.

The reason why I bought it is becasue the weird intankes I have right now don't convince me in relation to flow.... But works as a Intercooler

You would need a pipe that made the compressor outlet downward.

Go to this thread to post #493, which has pics of custom piping from a Big28 to a JRC FMIC. I'm going to try something like that. If it's too much of a hassle, I'll just chop the outlet elbow like Dejon suggests for their FMIC kit.

i have a 8" wide 2.75' thick Johnny Racecar Core (JRC). IT was under $300 for the core and $150 for the piping. I have no complaints i got a FMIC for under $500 what can i complain about

I wouldn't have cared to go with a JRC core and then make my own piping but I knew I would end up screwing up the piping and what not... Not to mention you also have to buy Tbolt clamps, Couplers, and Pipes......

Dejon tool has them, go to dejonpowerhouse.com, and click on 2nd generation fmic, it's about halfway down the page. The COP-J for a 2.0-2.25 outlet (which is the one I think you'd need) or the COP-J3 with a 2.5" outlet. 75-85 bucks.

SBR has a stainless one for $80, just go to their site and search "sbr ss j pipe"

Did anyone else have this problem when installing their kit? gsxtacy, is there anyway you could take a photo from drivers side on an angle? I just want to see how noticable it is.

Here's a link to the pics I took as I unwrapped it and then test fitted it. My only beef is the flange for the BOV extends into the upper ic pipe but for $300 I can't complain. Oh yeah and they shorted me one 2.5" silicone coupler and the t-bolts to go with it. I'm going to email them and see if they can hook it up.
