I have read a couple of threads on ebay intercoolers but just wondering which ones out there that are actually good? Allot of them have something that goes like this

"Good for up to 500bhp(I have seen from 350-600). all our intercooler has been tested to withstand more then 80psi pressure and it has very small pressure drop across the end tanks, at 15psi inlet the out let has 14.8psi that means it has only 0.2 psi pressure drop ,compare to many other intercoolers it is an excellent figure (some intercooler has 1-2psi pressure drop) also at the same condition, the temperature has drop from 120 degree to 28 degree ( and it is an excellent figure for efficiency"

Is the above statement just a bunch of bs or true? Has anyone tried the Megan racing FMIC? I think it's crazy to spend 700+ on a core and piping. I really don't care about name brands I just want it to work. Kinda like a Dave Brode part or Megan Racing or Johnny Racecar FMIC all cheap but effective with great quality. Here are just a couple of FMIC I'm talking about that look good but do they perform and will they last? Please chime in if you have a ebay FMIC or had one especially if it worked or did not work well for you. thanks

It might work on a 1G, the only problem might be the inlet.

This is the same size intercooler(dejon for a 1G), the only difference seems to be the inlet pipe.

You might have some trouble hanging it.

you mean the lower right part of the picture, where the turbo first blows into the intercooler? and if so why would that be a problem?

For 1g's the inlets are typically in the rear so it makes for easier and way shorter piping. I'm guessing that it would fit but im sure you would have to modify your actual bumper cover to accept the side inlet...

i see what you are saying, no biggy i emailed them to get one too, i wanna test this out and im almost absolutely sure that it will fit a 1g. look at the pic posted above and then the picture of it mounted on a 2g on page 9, almost exactly the same setup.
just waiting for an email back from them then i will send the money and do this thing.

i went ahead and bought one to replace by top to bottom flowing spearco. this should definately keep the temps down on high boost with the 14b. thanks for the help guys, it might take a little while before i get it in but i will tell everyone how it goes, by then the group buy will brobably be over though.

You probably won't. When I sent my payment I requested a conf or tracking # and it just showed up at my door 3 days later. They are pretty good with getting the intercooler shipped.

I got a Fed Ex shipping confirmation yesterday afternoon saying that it would be here Saturday and I ordered mine around 8 AM yesterday so you should probably get yours the same time depending on where you live.

One thing I just noticed. I am about half way through installing the intercooler and I have an external wastegate off my o2 housing. The external dump is going to be dumping right onto to the top of my intercooler piping. Does anyone know if this is going to mess up the piping because I know it is dumping hot exhaust gases right on it.

Just put some heat wrap on it for the time being until you get a dump tube made. I has the same problem when i custom made my pipes and my tial was dumping to the radiator and most of the fmic pipe with no ill effects whatsoever.

So I should just heatwrap the intercooler piping where it is getting dumped on (haha) and have a new dumb tube made. I've been thinking about routing it back into my downpipe so maybe this is the time to do it.

It's not set up for a side flow turbo, so you would need to modify your J-pipe or get a new one.
