Lets talk Ebay FMIC. Especially if you have one.

I have read a couple of threads on ebay intercoolers but just wondering which ones out there that are actually good? Allot of them have something that goes like this

"Good for up to 500bhp(I have seen from 350-600). all our intercooler has been tested to withstand more then 80psi pressure and it has very small pressure drop across the end tanks, at 15psi inlet the out let has 14.8psi that means it has only 0.2 psi pressure drop ,compare to many other intercoolers it is an excellent figure (some intercooler has 1-2psi pressure drop) also at the same condition, the temperature has drop from 120 degree to 28 degree ( and it is an excellent figure for efficiency"

Is the above statement just a bunch of bs or true? Has anyone tried the Megan racing FMIC? I think it's crazy to spend 700+ on a core and piping. I really don't care about name brands I just want it to work. Kinda like a Dave Brode part or Megan Racing or Johnny Racecar FMIC all cheap but effective with great quality. Here are just a couple of FMIC I'm talking about that look good but do they perform and will they last? Please chime in if you have a ebay FMIC or had one especially if it worked or did not work well for you. thanks

I am using an ebay intercooler 24-12-3 and it is great!! It is just like the xs power IC, but it does not say xs power. my brother inlaw also has the same one, but it says xs power on it. he has it on a 2002 turbo'd rsx. these intercoolers have worked great for both of us! i had it on my 1g last year, then when i got my 2g, i put it on with no problems.

i also got my piping kit from ebay. From ebay seller veter_duet, this guy is great, and will make you about any custom pipes you need, and all the pipes have rolled ends aslo. this makes your couplers and hoses stay on great.

I actually made the first kit for this guy for a 1g talon. He sent me pipes and i found out what all was needed for the kit. he named it after me, and has them on ebay. the same kit will work on a 1g or 2 g, because when i got my 2g, i put the whole kit on it with no problems. Here is the ebay item number for the 1g kit. (8035783280) You can run the cold side thru the stock upper pipe hole, or run it up in front of the tranny.

I have a 60-1 tubonetics turbo, and this intercooler and piping cools my charge great! I ran an 11.9 @126 last year on my 2g with this intercooler and piping. so ebay intercoolers and piping can work great!!

EDIT: On the kit i mentioned on ebay, it says for 31" intercooler, he is talking about 31" from inlet to outlet! The core is
24-12-3 . the angelo kit he sales for a 24" intercooler, is 24"from inlet to outlet. I am not sure of the core size on the angelo kit.

This deal is very enticing, but doesn't it bother anyone that the seller is SSAutoChrome? They have had a bad reputation with their products. You can even search these forums and it will come up with a bunch of bad reviews. I would like to think this is a great deal, but it seems too good to be true.

I'm gonna take it that you havent read through this whole thread? If not I suggest you do and see that these IC are just fine and are possibly the same ones other vendors are selling for 800 plus dollars...

Nothing bothers me about paying $225 for an intercooler kit with piping that others are selling for $800+. Maybe this will force the other vendors to stop marking up there products 300-400%.

What do you guys think of piping one of these 24x12x3 cores up to a 2.25 diameter greddy upper intercooler pipe. I am running a T04b turbo if that helps. Would it be to much of a restriction or would I not even notice the difference?

Before i put 2.5 piping kit on my 2g, i used a 2.25 upper pipe with my 24/12/3 . i had a 50 trim on at the time, and i did not notice a difference once i switched it to 2.5 pipe. so you should be fine.
