I have read a couple of threads on ebay intercoolers but just wondering which ones out there that are actually good? Allot of them have something that goes like this

"Good for up to 500bhp(I have seen from 350-600). all our intercooler has been tested to withstand more then 80psi pressure and it has very small pressure drop across the end tanks, at 15psi inlet the out let has 14.8psi that means it has only 0.2 psi pressure drop ,compare to many other intercoolers it is an excellent figure (some intercooler has 1-2psi pressure drop) also at the same condition, the temperature has drop from 120 degree to 28 degree ( and it is an excellent figure for efficiency"

Is the above statement just a bunch of bs or true? Has anyone tried the Megan racing FMIC? I think it's crazy to spend 700+ on a core and piping. I really don't care about name brands I just want it to work. Kinda like a Dave Brode part or Megan Racing or Johnny Racecar FMIC all cheap but effective with great quality. Here are just a couple of FMIC I'm talking about that look good but do they perform and will they last? Please chime in if you have a ebay FMIC or had one especially if it worked or did not work well for you. thanks

Megan FMIC

No name brand but has the standard psi and efficiency spill

Street Imports FMIC

XOXO Core but has good feedback on the core

From what I seen the only 1g kits they have are the long route. They don't make a short route like all you 2g's are getting?

$295 shipped is a REALLY GOOD price for what you get.. yes they could've been had even cheaper, but this was before they were popular.. but even at this price it is still good.. the kits have been ending around $400+ plus shipping lately.. and look at what you get (look at pics throughout the pages).. the core is very similar if not identical to the AGP kit.. which is $900 or something around there.. you can take a chance and try to win one cheaper.. but good luck on that.. as dsm owners i know how a majority of us are cheap and lowball what more can we ask for.. hah

Anyways, I did some searching here, on the AGP fmic kit install.. being as the cores are identical.. here are some pics where it shows what needs to be trimmed/cut..

Yeah $250 would have been great, but I would still be interested. If we are really going to do this let me know because I have to start saving my money and make sure I dont use it on anything else!

You guys realize he is actually selling you the kit for $265. There is normally a $40 shipping fee. I won mine for $225 + $40 shipping and handling + $4 insurance for a total of $269 so $295 and not worrying about being outbid is a steal.:thumb:

Alright, I'm going to try to talk to LudaChris or Defiant or someone and try to make a sticky for it for roughly a week or so. I just recieved an email back from them this morning and they forgot that I asked about the 1g kit last night. Will inform you guys ASAP!!!!

Is it just me or does the AGP Core not being held on by the top tab? Just the two tabs on the side?? If so then do we even have to use the top tab?

How in the hell are you supposed to put a new on the bolt inside that damn Frame or what ever it is shown in the second pic of the "needs to be cut post just above"

maybe they mounted it differently... perhaps cutting the piece where it bends.. or simply making it flat.. because this pic of another AGP fmic core with the top mount in tact..

i couldnt imagine NOT using that top tab.. this thing is a lot heavier/bigger than my other core I would be nervous just having it held up by the side tabs

Thanks ask about the short route kit if they plan on making one please.

I have this intercooler. the tab on the top of it was used on mine, but the top bumper bracket has to be hacked. Also the left (passenger side) radiator support needs to be hacked. For the side mounts, I drilled the bars and used existing threaded holes where the fog light/horn brackets where. Piping was good and fit decent, welds were good. Any questions feel free to email me or PM me.

Piping connection to turbo outlet. I have the FP Big28 as well. Care to share any details on the fabrication required to make the pipes work.

Close up of drivers side piping into the intercooler. Just want to get an idea if I'll have to relocate my a/t tranny cooler that's in the driver's side air duct (97 bumper)

Stock fan fitment. Whether you needed a slimline replacement or two.

Do you think there's sufficient enough length between the throttle body pipe and bov flange to modify the upper piping for blow-through 3" GM MAF? If possible, I plan to cut the piping accordingly and have beads rolled on the ends that are cut.

I appreciate the willingness to help.

Heres where to cut the T28. According to dejon's very similar setup

I'm in for $295 shipped... They are going for more than that right now.

Yup, I was looking at their kit before I stumbled upon this thread. I'd rather not chop the compressor housing, so I may try to piece something together.

alright, I took the pics today. May not be 100% exactly what your looking for.....but my camera sucks.

The pic of the driver side fog light/air dam area shows what has to be done to run "cheap" side-side inlet/outlet cores:notgood:

Lemme know what you think.

Hope pics aren't too big.

gsxtacy nice pics.. it will definitely help future owners.. i will also contribute my install pics when i come around to it..

do you have any pics without the front bumper to show the mounting points of the tabs?

now the only decision left is if i should modify the flange to fit my greddy type s.. (which once done is irreversible and then won't be able to use a 1g/forge bovs) or get a forge bov since I "think" my greddy is leaking.. go figure.. decisions decisions..
